ch1ck3n

Supercharger got boost at 1 bar (now) too, and in future you will see one boost 1.7 :D bar minimal...but thats in futurelah.... :D

 hope when i get my car den boost tat much...wahaha...den i b silent killer...
btw vtec can supercharge ar..?hehee..asking..

Most oversees tuners uses Honda V-tech as a platform for their supercharging kit because it's a very popular engine conversion over there and as for us, we use the proton models with mitsubishi as platform, majority rules.... :D

Yes, we will be venturing to this model once we have completed our proton section.

I think by the time you do own a joyride, I should have completed my pet project,

Cheers

thanks for the quick reply gerard... as for the gearbox thingy, you do know that our auto boxes do prone to failure. i've already wasted one before and i'm really interested if our auto box can cope with this thingy. Do enlighten me on this, still learning here... ^_^ apart from this problem, the other one will be the cost. how much would i have to spent on this thing? from stock to all the necessity installed...

oh yeah, i'm from cheras area... thanks :)

gerard,
is the layout (sc) similar to the one featured in hypertune (issue 25)?
i noticed that the sc was situated where the throttle body used to be and
the HKS air filter was located very near the fuis box, like very prone to
getting wet one.... izzit???

er.... not greedy for the moment la. if now 0.7bar, later bcome greedy at least thr is 1.0bar stage i can go. if now greed 1.0bar, thn later become even mroe greedy thn no next stage can go, habis la. wahahahaha

Antaras,

Honestly speaking, we have never tried it out on the auto and I guess using it the gentle way, should be ok with help from the oil cooler.....As said before, all of our test cars are from the manual family....

If you drive the manual gearbox roughly, it too will give you problems...but the fact which I do agree with you is that auto gearbox is slightly weaker than the manual counterpart....You get no probs with traffic jams :D .....unlike us have to tekan every now and then  ...Guess, you cannot have the best of both worlds here in this sense...

Cheers

Great to know that you are a person who take things one step at a time...I do agree that when it comes to upgrading power in your ride, you have to do one stage at a time so that, you could feel your investment as it grow (HP)...

The stage 1 GTI kit is at 0.7bar and stage 2 kit is at 0.9bar and stage 3 kit (untested yet) is targetted at 1.7 or 1.5 bar. However, the final stage will involve lot's of work and testing, we sort of have the bench mark from our other test car (VR4) and it's 95% completed after 4 years of R & D with 2 different cars and we will just transfer this knowhow from the VR4 to the GTI 1.8 and see what happens and if it is successful,...will be hell of a great daily driver...Just have wait and see....Guys, wish me luck... ;)

Cheers

Raikkonen,

The car you saw in Hypertune (25) is one way of installing but the kit now comes with different mountings and the supercharger unit is placed somewhere hidden partially, to keep it's low profile stance.... ;) ....Unseen, sometimes is good news.. :D

The coldest part for air induction (air filter) is at the back of the front headlights and I use a heat shield to protect it further from the gearbox heat but nevertheless, the stainless steel piping running it from air filter to the throttle body does heat soak too but looks nicer, I wrap the pipe with heat wrap (2 layers) to protect it but remove for the photo shoot....It looks nicer without the heat wrap... :D

The amount of water trap or manage to get trap at this position is so minimal that it will never have any effect on the filter, I've been using this style on all my cars for many years...We did simple test, by placing a thermometer at this position and the readings are much cooler (after hard drives or jams) then at the position behind the battery. (OEM style)... ...Lower intake temps means denser air which leads to a smoother ride......Notice,I didn't say more power cos the actual hp, using this method may not be felt at all... ;)...perhaps smoother..

ps. do you drive a GTI?? and if yes, what mods have you done so far... :D ...who knows, I may have met you somewhere before or at TT's

Regards & cheers
Gerard

really? can't wait to see the new low profile layout ;)
denser air meaning smoother ride?? no wonder normally i 'feel' dat my ride is 'less powerful' during hot days... so its actually smoother n not less power :P

yup... i driving a SGTi as well. did onli simple mods, changed 2 K&N drop-in n oso full hotbits 4-2-1 exhaust system.
btw, do i need to change my exhaust system should i opt of the sc?

:P gd luck den...
my future ride is gonna b a putra...
discuess wif my dad...muz finish my spm first ahaha

Cool then, when you do get the Putra, look for me ya and you should be able to feel our stage 3 by then...,if it workslah.... :D

Take care and do study smart.... :D

Raikkonen,

Yup, your car is not less powerful, just that your not feeling the smoothness of it ...I'm sure you will notice your ride feels more heavier, less responsive and draggy...This is solely because the air is hot and it's lighter (not dense)....
During rain or early morning drives, you will notice the opposite, faster, lighter throttle response and willing to 'go'...Right...

I'm testing out a complicated system with regards to intercooling minus an intercooler and it's almost ready too (1 year of R & D) since installed and still gathering info and the pro's & con's with this system.....I cannot reveal it yet cos it's still in test period and not approved by us just yet but I can say this much, it is able to bring inlet temprature down to as low as 14degrees....Imagine that, even cooler then your home air condition unit...Facts and details shall be reveal soon to you guys sometime in March or April.....when it's really ready, tested and proven..... ...Keep a look out ya.

Oh! it's not NOS system, if you are wondering...

Is it siemens or mmc... ....K & N is a very good filter. You have invested well in this filter..Golden rule...A good filter is bad with air flow, a bad filter is better with air flow.... ...K & N is good in both or the manage to balance both filtering & good air flow... :D

2" piping will be sufficient for now, should you install our stage 1 supercharger kit with 2" piping, you may encounter exhaust choking at higher RPM's (4500 onwards).....I'm using 2.5", but they are louder than normal too, so do keep note...As I always tells my customers, stay that way (2") understand the kit while using this piping and once bored, change to 2.5" you will notice gains then you have minor stages of upgrading with minimal investment to feel new gains...Cost effective too..One step at a time... :D....

Where are you located.?..
