;) See picture below.
it helps to reduce engine "rocking" during shifting gear or gas-on-gas -off.
I did this on my car. works for me. Try it.

Is that a timing belt? YOu just basically put it into the groves only issit? How do you make it stay there?

its a tried method by many DIYs.

you could inject the commercial black glue to keep it in place. However it will shorten slightly the lif span of the mount (as it take more beating) BUT is a small price to pay as oppose to aftermarket siffer mounts.

i just don;t undertsand what is that...

is that the mounting..?
ghmm..i'm very interested in it.but how to diy..

guide pleaseE?

hmm...
dont understand too

more guide pls, what is the purpose making it stiffer? where is the engine mount?
sorry, newbie here :P

yes, used timing belt. And no, it won't come out. if your mounting have bigger gaps, you can put silicon sealant to keep it it there.

Engine mount location varies from car to car. Normally there will be 4 engine mounts:- right side of engine, front of engine (attach to cross member and tranny) and rear side of engine (attach to cross member and tranny , near fire wall) AND on the left side (attached to tranny , under battery location).

This mod is meant for front and rear mount, to limit excessive engine rocking while shifting gear. Therefore, making the shifting smother. may aso extend the life of the gear lever bushing. it also, avoid rubbing on some close proximity part (between engine and chasis) in case engine is rocking. Example; intercooler piping and chasis; intercoller pipe and radiator fan ; aircond hose and radiator..ect.

wow....must DIY remove engine mouts?
is that diffivult?

Really not quite understand what is that thing? can you show us more picture and where does it locate in ur engine..... thanks mate!!! B)

i stuffed in some rubber sealent so it will make the mounts harder & stronger .
some people stuff metal in or pvc pipes so that it will last longer .

DiYed too, at TiTAN's factory :P hehehehe
luckily i know how to do machining also, muahahaahaha

pic shows the engine mounts are almost solid! it's sleeved with Aluminium.. and solid rubber mounts! custom-built baby!

this is the stock mounts next to my DiYed mount. YES it will SHAKE the SHiT outta me. YES my car WiLL a bone-jarrer.. but the benefits are tremendous! no lag, no slop, tekan minyak, dump clutch and you're off! arggggggggggggHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
change gears also more precise now.. hehehe
PS. pls disregard the TITAN oil.. (nothing to do with TiTAN Suspension)

aiyah...this is not sumthing i can do la..

coz my mounting really cacat now...

sobs..can sumbody help m,e on this?

errr, i know this might sound stupid .. anyway .. we have to take out the engine 1st rite? before we can take out those mountings and add in timing belt / rubbber or anything to make it more solid. ? if need to take out engine then i dun think i can DIY this ooo.. tarak proper tool

hahaa

well, you can DiY the mount first, by first getting either NEW or old worn mounts.

new ones, you inject black silicone to make it stiffer.
but for the old ones, you can use back the metal mounting casing :)
that's what i did :)

bone jarring ride vs smoother ride.. HMMmmmmmm. I go for smoother ride thanks. Bone jarring just isn't for the average joe like me.

Stan. I think you are crazy.

SLK of yours is crazy too.

:o Ninja.. i would not clasified your project as DIY. Perhaps advance DIY project as only certain people may have access to lathe machine. I used solid mounts before, it was made from poluerethene. My car was damn stiff and shake my balls, and even triggered the shock sensor while the turbo timer is running. I took them off and used the stock mounts (stuffefd with timing belt).

rsturbo,

do we have to remove the whole mounting to add in the rubber or silicon?

or do we just have to remove the rubber?

i thought it wouldn't make the car jerk so much when u lift off the gas? how come will be bone jarring wan?

the engine is a vibration machine.
at idle, when the frequency is low enough, it shakes the hell..

i'll be honest with you guys
i havent fitted it yet :P
but everyone tells me to expect the worst..

Hmm... can this be used to replace worn out rubber or simply to extend the life of worn mountings instead?
