need help on evo3 engine

hai all sifu, i need advise for evo3 engine. i am thinking to change my gsr to evo3 engine n how can i c the code for evo3 with vr4 evo1 evo2 coz all these engine code start with 4g63....?? is the maintenance same with gsr wat i mean here is ori evo3. n how bout the fuel comsumption my gsr rm60 can go about 400km like tat. Hope someone can give me some advise me before i transplant the engine

For Evo1 the chasis code is CD9A. Evo2 and Evo3 have the CE9A code printed on the chasis. Vr4 u should can notice different colour for engine colour because EVO is brown metalic if not colour blind, while the VR4 is all RED in colour. Better get EVO engine rather than vr4 if u duwan to modify engine mouting, EVO only PnP(plug and play).

For my original condition evo2, only mod exhaust from mid section piping to 2.5" straight flow muffler if drive 'lightly'(means change gear b4 3k) manage to get 10km/liter. Hopes helps Perak friends! :) Just my own exp towards my own engine. Haha.

where to get cheap evo3 halfcut ha ? i dunt need d bodykit n acc etc, just d complete engine gearbox +ecu...if can how much arr ? 4 max can get arr these days ? cause since 2 liter engine difficult to get approve these days..price should drop like mad la. and another way is that me got 4G93p to trade with anyone who want to revert back...gsr can consider also.

well i heard from people lah. evo engine can get bout rm6k plus plus lo without body part loh. even my friend got intro me an evo2 engine for rm6k plus like tat loh but i prefer evo3 engine. what's the different between evo 1 2 n 3 ? is it newer engine or more power engine??
 
depends wht u want to get bro
if u want an engine for extreme mod, then head to vr4
if u want to just boost a lil higher , then evo3
if u want to mod a lil more evo 1 and 2

my conclusion ler
if u want to extreme mod
example , changing header banana manifold , changing intake , changing intercooler pipes , changing turbine , changing injectors , port&polish head , rebore block for bigger pistons .. if u gonna do even a few of these , WHY THE HACK by a evo halfcut and rip it, better get vr4 halfcut 3-4k kawtim, the rest money push for modding

cos its a High Compression system
maybe adjust a lil more fueling and boost up to 1bar, u can feel the heaven, i felt it so i know it. After 1.2bar is an overkill for evo3 piston and internals, compare them with vr4 then u get wht i mean , its lightened and high compression pistons. bt after a lil overboosting my evo3 went to the grave

evo2 , err can ask sakura actually bout this , cypress8 oso on evo2 ,
as i know evo 1 and 2 has lower compression than evo3 , abit more suitable for a lil higher boosting than evo3 , halfcut price oso not so pricey like evo3. take evo2 la bro i tink , put a SAFC 2 , fuel regulator , higher rate fuel pump, boost up to 1.2bar , enjoy hahahhaha

if u decide to put metal gasket in any of those engine , u must accept the suffering of LOW LOW compression
 
wah... evo 1 and 2 can boost up to 1.2bar. Is tat mean in original condition evo 1 and 2 are more preferred than evo 3 engine??
 
evo 1 and 2 not much of a differece... most of the engine part r the same.. evo 3 got alot of difference compared to the 1 n 2... turbo also different.. read the artical on these 3 engines b4 but im sorry i cant recall where i read it... sorry... correct me if im wrong... i read long time back :eek:

evo 3 oso ok lerr, bt dnt recommend for a kaw kaw mod

in standard spec...the engine is already great&powerful.
i prefer mild tune evo3 engine...the boost kick of TD05-16G is great for street driving. better ecu,high pressure fuel pump,fuel regulator,metal head gasket, right mechanic with right tuning...1.2bar is ok. dont forget for better clutch. i heard trinity produce resonable price with good quality clutch set.

it's all up to u. what u need? if mega power..lots of rm. reliability also will affect if not doing the mods properly & neglect maintenance.

what car u drive? if satria, the power to weight ratio aspect would be great in standard spec.

well bro me using putra with gsr engine loh. jes wanna upgrade to 2000cc n i am not an extreme mod engine ppl. i prefer original condition coz don want lots lots of problem,agree?. BTW i am still considering which engine willl be the final decision. Anyone whos using evo2 or evo3 can give some advise?Cheerss !!!

good lah if u dont prefer extreme mods.

get evo3. consider still new engine. make sure do the overhaul to check the condition of some vital parts like pistons&rings. make the engine in tip top healthy condition 1st before go for any mods.

as for mild tune....get metal gasket,service the turbo,at least apexi safc or any performance chip if limited budget, get high pressure fuel pump(upgrading evo...the pump is always weak point). even if want mild tune...better get after market pump. get adjust fuel regulator. get better clutch set like exedy at least for better power channelling. external w/gate not necessary if use standard turbo.

with healthy engine,some mild upgrade and right tuning....your putra will go fast. 1.2bar is enuff ..balance between power and reliability.

i would suggest 18G kit if got extra rm...with 18G turbo u dont have to spend a lot on supporting tools. u get more power without sacrifice driveability. not much lag. u can still use many evo parts if use 18G. most important get better fuel pump. the 510cc injectors still can cope with 18G...but maybe the injectors will reach max cycle duty.just dont go too high boost.

yup! sold already.. long time ago...

**abt the e3 thingy, maintainance more the less is the same with gsr..
not much difference... but the feel that u get from the td05h is far more better than that tdo4... hehehe
manage to get abt 270-340 mix driving with 40% hard acceleration.. boosting at 1.5-1.6bar..
n its an everyday car.

but i think, u hang on to that gsr..
buy a bigger turbo, management n few other gadgets.. worth the money bro..
still can boost it at 1.5b man.... hehehe... u'll like it..:biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin:
 
well thought about it also n hard 2 let go the gsr engine coz lots of fun with the engine! i may be thinking to get an evo by next year. so bro wat car u buy after selling ur monster ride? if i got chance to go kl mayb we can hang out n have a tea session! Cheerss~~
