guys, i hav chnaged my stock muffler to 5zigen recently and found out my engine response decrease alr.. does it has to do with the muffler size or sumthin, its 2 inches s flow??

comments plz, really heartache when found out that changin the muffler is kinda bring down my torque or sumthin

how do u know? u dyno-ed it? butt dyno doesnt justify it..

u change d entire piping or wat? wat engine r u runnig on?

difficult to tell..

bro, what engine u use? auto or manual?
stock mean original stock or halfcut stock?

will be helpful if u can tell us a bit more..

possible the muffler diameter is too large for the engine/ or piping too big for the engine to handle.

what engine is it? 1.6l? 2.0l? turbo engine?
just tukar the rear part only? muffler section only?

oh btw, is ur car auto/manual?

auto s kinda troublesome.... plus have u taken out the catalytic converter?

sure the muffler makes sum differences, as in my case, changing to an oval type from a straight thru gives out better response and better FC. u changed to straight through type bro? :)

BLaCkHoWLiNG: it based on my feelin coz whenever i accelerate to rpm 2 n slightly above, it will get me to next gear smoothly but after changin the muffler only, i gotta rev to abt 2.5 n sumtimes it drag me quite a distance before engagin into next gear especially 4th gear for my auto transsy 1.6 seg

suma_: i'm using 4afe stock stock stock, auto transsy

silver_car: muffler diameter is 2 inches wit twin outlet, its 1.6 4afe engine no turbo ,ummm,, catalytic converter?? i changed the mufller only, didnt touch on piping part at all

xtremeleo: i changed into 5 zigen s flo, i heard straight flow very noisy so.. summore straight flow doesnt suitable for auto transsy isnt it??

auto setup - 2 center boxes... pref 1 S-Flow.. then rear S-flow... stay within 2 inch

bro black howling, how if manual trans, using stock engine and parts......can u recommend me the set up?

auto tranny note:

stay close to the stock setting to get best result of low-to-mid range.

i used 2.5" s-flow for my auto tranny, it can't perform well at low-to-mid rev.
the power only come after 3000++
so change back to stock setup - get better response (but had to sacrifice high-end performance)

in ur case, might be 2" outlet is considered bigger than stock. the original is 1.8" if not mistaken.

my advice - better to change the extractor (1 of main reason to get better torque) to sumting like 4-2-1.

different car and driving style also influence the exhaust setup requirement.

for Auto car, the more u change from the stock setting the more headache you will get ah... stay stock.

hi,
i'm using the same model and engine with auto transmission. i've done my exhaust at Jian Hang...
- 2 centre bullet, 1 one is specially for auto created by JH
- FGK Jasma muffler s-flow

extractor until the 'nenas' still stock. performance and fuel comsumption is very good, reach 500km for full tank of RM65. sifu EFN tested my car and found it's very responsive, receive good comments from him.... then again there's also MSD 6AL...

Yup, I suggest you go for similar exhaust setup to meg_omen. Go look for one guy named Fstrader in Zerothundred. send a Private Msg to him asking on how to go to Jian Hang in Batu Caves, they do very good piping and the price is just about right. It is okay to pay a bit more for a good quality and effective setup. Ask for a 1.8' or 1.75" pipe.
