Hi,
new here....driving a wira a/b wif normal 1.6 Mivec.....the TT sounds interesting....but too bad, i'm from Ipoh... :(

we dun have TT in ipoh but anyway u r welcome to our club here u can just post in any discussion if u wish to.

Hey buddies, an update on the valve cover gasket change
Got it for RM75, non-originallah.....

DIY-ed myself, spent a good 2 hours ++ doing it...... first time mah....
(sorry zeneger and buddies, couldn't join you guys for the drag battle)

BTW, here are some pics of the job I wish to share, step-by-step...
For those who have not seen what the essence of a Mivec is, now's your chance

First is to open the plastic cover thing, FYI, all the nuts unscrewed in this project are sized 10

after that, remove the timing belt cover, there are 4 screws. some might say just remove the top 2.... I don't know..... I also not clever

this is what the gasket looks like... all rubber...... abit pricey ain't it?

after unscrewing all other nuts surroundng the cover and not forgetting the one between the spark plug and the timing belt, the cover should slide loose. if it doesnt, u might wanna pry open the thing. i did so at this flat point shown in the picture, just between the hook and the timing belt housing.

Mivec Actuator

I hope I am right.... hey, does anyone has the Haynes Manual or Workshop Catalogue thingy...??

OK, here's the gasket that had been replaced.

Peeling it off was easy... putting the new one was tricky and back breaking. I had no silicone to hold it in place whilst inverting the head during installation. It fell off. Many advised not to use silycone cos the rubber is new rubber.

I had my own silly-cone, i used the very thin double-sided tape, for school kids one and stuffed it in the cavity before putting the rubber. that held the gasket in place for sufficient time, before it could fall off.

coming up project would be the replacement of timing belt tensioner(s). for those who experience knocks (louder when aicond on) this might be the cure.

Might-lah.... I oso not sure.... not clever also.......
cheers

Guys,

I got problem with my mivec la.

(1) Once the mivec open, there are some follow-up sound like 'kedeng- kedeng-kedeng'. I already asked my friend's mechanic to clean + air spray the solonied / mivec motor. Takut2 ia tersumbat, mungkin minyak hitam tak fully supply the solonoid. But the problem still happened la.

(2) After a long drive (say 1 hour), the mivec sounds will sound like 'empty' or like 'sebu' in malay. Why ar?.

Currently my car rev is running below std b4 cut-off. Also don't why.

Any recommended GOOD & REALIABLE Mivec workshop?. BTW, i'm using this 2nd gen mivec CK4A./CJ4A.

if u r in Ipoh, i can definitely recommned u to one....btw, i still cant get a picture or figure out ur description...heheh...sorry ehh...
