Yes, please stay away from racial remarks. Look at those chinese car business. I'm sure they're also making it big.
The non-bumi's don't have special privileges and thus, they make it on their own. They have what it takes to make it on their own. They should be proud of it. Condemn not the other races even though they get more than us, for that simply shows their dissatisfaction of what they have worked so hard for and also shows jealousy. By doing that, they're somewhat lowering themselves by comparing to those who probably didn't have to work as hard as they did, thus, not appreciating what they have worked for on their own, without any special privileges.

i would like to echo satria_95 thoughts, but not bcoz im a 'malay' and i wanna defend them or anything. i wont be an apologist either. i realize and admit that i have taken advantage or fully use some of the priviliges granted to me but not out of arrogance and not without pity to other races. true, my father may have planned to take the easy way; he married a malay and converted (my mum), but i am in no way proud of what rAPidah is doing.

what i actually wanted to say was, as long as there is the "ah, u're my brother/family/relative/close friend, wanna make some good money? aiyah license ka training ka can settle wan.. i give to u first bcoz u are somebody to me" attitude 100% of the time, we'll just go nowhere. cronism and unnecessary feelings of "nationalism" (racism) are the culprit in the minds of these greedy ppl. everybody wants the easy way, they just take it too far.

the funny thing i see about this whole drama, is the possibility of conspiracy and double crossing like in the movies;

M tells R to bolot all the APs and ask her to "pandai2" manage so that ppl they can trust get them, when those ppl get the AP, do whatever they want as long as price of local car can be made competitive and Ploton is protected. M doesnt want to know how they do it, make money out of it or use it. everybody becomes fat n happy for years.

P2 starts getting "kurang ajar" in Ploton feels threatened. M needs someone to blame, but cant point at them directly. must stab someone's back. complain about imports. why AP like this this this... new G reveals the list. OOPS stray shot, R kena..

Our country is being short changed by a few individuals


1) Custom duties are not paid in full, AND

2) Those that get APs actually input the "profit" from selling the AP outright into the vehicles selling prices, in addition to the profit margin they want to make.

APs we know are sold for 40k outright and if we take approx ave. profit margin to be 30k per car for a car that sells for 170k to 200k

Each car Gross Margin = 40 + 30 = 70k


If a company have been in business for the past 15 years and receiving 20,000 APs a year

Total Profit for the past 15 years = 70k per car X 20,000 APs/year X 15 years = a staggering Profit of RM 21 billion !


The next question - was Corporate Tax paid on that Rm21 billion !! i.e 5.9 billion ?

Uncle Sam ? We can build many hospitals with that kind of taxes

The worse is, they transfer these money outside malaysia...last time got report said that we got many politicians have monies in switzeland......also those subcon and AP kings are importing alot of luxurious cars, causing alot of ringgit outflow to pay for these luxurious cars...Our ringgit really worth nothing outside southeast asia....

atleast their cars are of good quality compared to useless proton.

what they are acutally trying to do is to abolish all direct competition towards proton and force us normal plebians to accept utter and total crap for our hard earned cash. this is definately not free enterprise. proton have been given 20 years and they failed. the chinese car makers have less years of experience and already they are exporting more cars than us. also the koreans were exporting their cars later than us and now their export numbers are in millions compared to proton's paltry sum of below 30k.

everytime the government fails they would point their finger at others instead of really looking deep into themselves. proton does not deserve to compete for one very good reason because they are incompetant.

case study wira - been in production for more than 10 years and one simple problem from day one; the power window. instead of correcting the defect in the subsequent batches, they continue to churn out the crap. mistake is a wrong doing done once, stupidity is commiting the same mistake over and over again.

what you malays can't take is criticism. always talking bout "toleransi". do you really know what it means? it means i do not like what you're doing but i have to endure it. that's the meaning of tolerate. how are we chinese to call ourselves true malaysians when we do not get the same rights? worked to hard since the first day our ancestors stepped on to this soil and when we made it - we are suppose to share it with lazy scums who think it's their right to have a piece of the pie.

can't you see that the malays can and will never be able to compete with all these subsidy mindset. now they are talking bout bringing back in the NEP - can;t they see it's a step backward?

some chinese have been here for 500 years (the babas) and are not even confered bumi status, whereas indons and half-breed (no offence) are. we have worked so hard in building the country and are offered nothing n return - not even education for the deserving. where's the justice?

buy non-national car; we pay high price for the tax + APs.

We chase what we "want"; this inflates the overall standard of living. There will be those who are lucky ; works & get good pay remuneration

i dont know bout politics but what i know is my ancestor has been here for generations and we are part of the community who made malaysia what it is today.... well i dont see any reason for the chinese to get lost as this is our country too.....

we understand that this is a auto forum. but crap have been dished for many years. do we as malaysians let the people in power to continue abuse the system in relation to having more crap in throw to the average malaysian when in the policies are in guise to ensure those who yield power remain enriched? Policies on AP has direct influences on our local auto industry. Do we blind ourselves & kid ourselves & only talk of nice cars; when given the situation as hard working individuals deserves more?

There are malaysians (regardless of race, creed) who worked their way up. entrepreneurs and sorts; (bumis too; some of them my clients, some were my ex-bosses). Did day fall into the trap of enriching easily? NO, they had pride, & i respected them for it.

The 'spin doctors' will create the reasons why some needs o be protected in order for the industry to grow. We believe it more hoodwink to the actual truth.

i understand your frustrations too keano, but i debate with constructive arguments & not without basis.

to tell the truth, i believe there is more than meets the eye. In short, our dear minister of trade is bombarded with some unfair criticism when the truth of the matter lies far larger then issues on unfair APs are sending spoils to protons eroding market share.

we have a blissful running of the country but not without hiccups. Criticisms dont make me ungrateful for that. Hiding under a cloak make me a bigger ass-head.
