hmm..tho' it's a longshot, would u happen to be 'IBM' hans? <_<

If any of u guys want technical advice with regards to building and setting up minis, look up nandakumar... or 'nandu' (meaning crab in tamil..for his sideways antics) as he's known to us;)
. Like me, he's also a darn good mechanic but has much more experience with minis. :)

Graduated as an engineer from coventry, 30yr old nandu now works for proton motorsports.

my hs4 carb is giving probs. the dashpot is sticking i think. hv tried cleaning the whole carb but the problem persists. the engine starts and runs high n low at will. sometimes spluttering to a halt. when i try to drive it, it sort of 'semput' /hesitate. there does not seem to be any manifold leaks and the vacuum advance hose is fine. does anyone know what else i should do/check?

btw, how much is a weber carb and where can i get one?

1st is it a fuel problem or an electronic problem? you have to make that sure 1st.

do u have enough dashpot oil? what type of oil are u using if tehre is?

u do not want to get into using a weber carb on std engine! trust me! Not much benefit either, best to stick with the HS4 or the HIF44 1 3/4 IMHO

I second that motion :P ! and yet i'll ask..won't a DCNF work nicely on a mini? or is upward space a problem?
Here's a suggestion.. while angel's away in the UK, pinch the EFI system from her mini!

yeap alot of cutting if you wanna put a dcoe, and nobody that i know that really knows how to tune a dcoe. needles are hard to comeby unless you get a nice shiny new one from stb with the right jettings.

tq guys for the replies.

fastclubman,
i think i'll stick to hs4, after reading ur reply. i hv a hif44 too but the manifold for that is slightly cracked. as for the oil, i put in 20w. that is an okay oil to use, right? and how much is enough?

pimpin,
i think it's the carb. there is nice healthy spark on all four leads and when i use colourtune, i can see that all cylinders are firing. fuel supply is good too. not clogged.
