Helping Doug :)

Please advise...no its not about the title as stated but its more about the vibration that my car has....seems to have been getting worse as time goes by.....Might be the chassis or the misc parts like the dashboard or sumthing, maybe their loose and have succumb to the years of driving and constant vibration?....but then again, the engine mounting might be a factor as well, im not sure about that part...but....i was advised by Gavan to get a flexible but i have yet to get it....Could it be inconsistent flow of electric power that makes the engine vibrate more than it shud or is there something major thats wrong with my air cond compressor unit??vibration is worse when air cond is on.....idling is at 1000rpm so that shouldnt be a problem....
ANother thing....when driving slightly hard, like accelerating a little bit harder than normal, the gear stick also vibrates....seems like its the clutch or sumthing....happens around 3000rpm to 4000 rpm so im really not sure at all what could be the cause there.....
Could the air fuel ratio contribute to the engines behaviour? or maybeits the sparking effeciency of the spark plugs?? PLEASE ADVISE!!! i dont want to send my car in for a tune up only to be dissapointed because the problem still persists....Please share experiences or ur expertise.....thanks so much..DOug...

shtiz lorrr, i type so long, page error pulak...ish ish...anywayz, for me the flexible works wonders :D my stick was also shaking lastime when i was using the car without the flexible :D so erm, very the shaky lorr.....

gavan wut is actually ur talking about?
flexible??
is that the mounting?
coz if it is i wanna get one... :D

Engine mounting might be one of it causing the vibration.Vibration once air-cond is on :try to adjust the air-cond idealing.can be done by urself.
3k to 40k accelerate to check the below engine mouting.

I forgot what type of engine u using now.anyway u may try to used above mentioned.

Ive checked my idling already...with and withuot air cond....my idling with air cond on is exactly 1000 rpm which is what it shud be but it seems to still vibrate..like some bladi earthquake....gonna raise it to around 1100 or 1200rpm as it seems to have a great amount of diffrence when i hold my accelerator to around that rpm....but that will add slightly to fuel consumption....

If its the mounting thats the problem, what can i do?? what would the mechanics do to solve the prob? Already contemplating on getting the flexibles as suggested by gavan....it seems to have done quite well for him so i hope it would have a decent amount of improvement for mine....haha...

Will upgraded sparks and plugs help? coz their supposed to help with smoother engine running conditions so in turn smoother idling? please advise ..thanks...

vibration.

i have a very strong feeling that one of your engine mounts are damage. sometimes it's hard to do a visual check until you remove the mounts to have a closer look. one way i know of to check is to jack up the front, start the engine and reving the engine. see how the engine is moving/twisting. from there u should know which mounts are most likely worn out. the other option is to ask your mechanic to check.

cheers.

....update

now...my problem has taken a slight u turn but i dont know whether to see it as a bad thing or a good thing...i drove to damansara this morning and normally when i stop at traffic lights the engine would shudder quite a bit...but just now, it was almost perfectly ...so i decided to switch the air cond on and still it remained the same....my idling rev was reading 1000rpm so i guess its right....so now, i really cant put my finger on the problem.....hmm....but the problem with the vibrating gearstick still remains....but yet again gavan said that the flexibles would be able to eliminitate that prob...anymore thoughts?

ahaha ;p mine was shaking due to the engine was shaking, my mountings were already new by then :D cause i changed them when i changed the engine :D but the vibration remains, so i decided to add the flexible, it helped me tho :D that also was after i did my grounding. which didnt really help much but did improve the lights a lil :D

gtti kuning dude.....the flexible is widely available at car exhaust shops and spare parts shops even halfcut shops....its a part of ur exhaust system....where there this flexible is supposed to be located after the exhaust manifold / extractor to prevent engine vibration passing thru the whole exhaust pipes....

..

anion...meaning to say that its actually classified as an exhaust part? and its easily attainable at most exhaust specialists? hmm....must go and ask....anyone here has current contacts with a workshop which confirmed has this item?

Gavan...the amir guy didnt get back to me...dono whether he is still using that phone..hahaha

...

and also.....im planning to send my car in to tune the air:fuel mixture.....how much should i be expecting to pay...i dont think it shud be much coz it doesnt involve replacing anything rite? and also, what exactly is meant by adjusting the "timing" is this adjusting the valve timing? please enlighten me a little more....
And also, adjusting my idling....on a cb23...which screw is it? i didnt want to do it trial and error coz im quire aware of the consequences....but can anyone pin point exactly which screw it is? thanks a lot...

doug....that flexible is confirmed that every single exhaust shop has it....ranging from RM 100 to RM 200 each....and it is a exhaust part....the exhaust gas will flow thru it...

well adjusting the timing is very easy....there is a screw on the carb....sorry cant remember which screw as my cb23 screwed up long time ago....ahahaha....

btw...i should introduce to our fren who is running a cb23 aura....he is a mech himself n his cb23 can tailgate iswara 1.3.....ehehehe...for him to tune up ur engine like the valve timing, ignition timing, tappet gap and etc....it will not cost over RM 100.....

eh.. i thought every car has the flexible? or do u mean u change ur current flexible.

Doug.. i think its ur mouting la..

Nah most of the cars (stock) does not have a flexible.doug its a definate that you would be able to find flexibles in exhaust shop

...

hey hey..thanks a lot for the info guys....been a great help....ibut i dont think its the mounting....coz i checked em whiles my engine was running...asked my friend to maintain a couple of revs but the mountings dont seem to look shaky....lll go look up the flexibles in a few days time...thanks again for all the help....
oh yea....anyway know the price for the NGK iridium sparks?

volker 67 plus onli?? mines a cb23 so i only need 3 sparks. arent u driving an ascend?
the NGK i saw somewhere was damn expensive lar bro....much more than the volkers u mentioned but they were Iridium lar.....unless i saw wrong....anyway.....ill let u know if i find out and u let me know if u find out k? thanks man...ciaoz

WOAH, all using so the terror wan spark plugs... :P kekekkee.......

erm, yeah, most of our cars do not come with a flexible, especially if you are running on a stock exhaust setup, mine didnt have anything, just pipings all the way...thats why installing the flexible helped me alot...

tuning for CB23 should not be too hard....

adjusting the timing is adjusting when the spark will fire....adjusting tapet is a different thing all together bro....then adjusting the AFR also is a different thing....so erm, better go to your mech and ask him do all for you :D
