Silverstone FTZ type RR semi-slicks. cheapest new semi slicks out there.

Street tyres are still alright to use on the track. It doesnt koyak like how you say it does. I've used Yokohama ES100 many times on the track, but ofcourse it doesnt give you the best grip out there. From my experience, the Advan AD07 is good.

Yeah i use silverstone s/slick on my car during track day, not bad all round performance try asking sunway hup soon i think they are selling around rm280 a piece.........cheers.

i recently ran AD07's on the track... and i'd say they're darn good!! previously running Falken's ST115... fair only, not really good tyres for track. Not like the AD07's... if you're a budget amatuer hobby racer like me, they are good enough i would say (AD07's)...

what i would like to sample is the AZENIS RT215.... :D

Oh yeah, the AD07 is freakin good alright. Its not really budget as well, price is on the high side. I wanna try out the Silverstone sem/slicks. I wanna see where it stands against the AD07. Anyone has tried both, please let us hear your review.

prices for the Silverstone FTZ type RR

185/55 -14 RM280

195/50 -15 RM330

215/45 -17 RM360

contact WRC motorsport for your requirements or see us during MSS race weekend in Sepang.

currently the silverstone FTZ type RR is the control tyre for Malaysian Super Series (MSS) Supersixteen class, made up mostly of honda civic racers.

not a pro racer yet, not even a weekend racer. (no comp. license)
but enjoy yokohama A520's grip during trackdays...

AD07!!!

simex 8300 suckssss

g3 potenza ok la...

AD07!!!!! the best

getting many thumbs up for ad07 n silver stone. heheh... anybody have tried both? any experience comparing?

AD07 vs Silverstone tarmac rally

Tried both AD07 and Silverstone S575 (S841c) in 195/50R15 size.
Silverstone being a competition compound tire of course grips and handles better.
On both dry and wet (not standing water!) and on smooth and rough surfaces.
BUT only by a bit. I clocked about 1+second faster over a 70+ sec course in SSO2.5.
This improvement even before the compound gets to warm up to operating temp (SSO only 1 run lap at a time)
And it wears out like 4 times faster.
And it is heavier (by about 1kg! but of course stiffer sidewalls lah!)

Given the price per kilometer, hassle to swap back and forth comp tires, aquaplaning resistance, I think I will still choose AD07 for next replacement.

WATCH OUT for RT615!

Anyone with comparos between Silverstone S575 and FTZ typeRR?

Silverstone FTZ Type RR vs AD07 & Silverstone S575

Has anybody here tried Silverstone FTZ Type RR?

How is it compared to AD07 & S575?

Please post your feedback.

im not sure how they compare, but i think i can assume some things.

the FTZ RR needs a high working temperature. when its cold, its slippery. warming up this tyre is essential. and if im not mistaken is this the tyres slated for the MME endurance this year? in terms of durability, it may be equal or even outlast the AD07

the AD07 being a street radial, will work from cold. it is a very grippy tyre and many have found them to be friendly at the limit too. however, for a street tyre it seems to wear off pretty fast :p. i do not know if these tyres will overheat and lose its composure if you start lapping it really hard. but genting runs are not a problem at all. its sidewall is softer than the slicks, so will need comparatively higher pressures.

the S575 is also a fairly low to medium temp tyre. it needs to grip from cold cause its a rally tyre. grip is fairly good, but the slots in the tyre decrease the total contact patch. why is this? im not sure. but nearly all tarmac slicks are like that. the best part abt the tarmac slick is its construction. a very stiff tyre wall makes the handling at the limit abit more predictable, lets you run lower pressure so as not to balloon the tyre, and the square section allows max contact patch. however this tyre wont last 5 laps of hard driving at SIC. it;ll just melt. and ive seen that happen.

my 2 cents, with many assumptions.

Thanks. That was very informative.

Let say if for Autocross application, which one is more suitable between AD07 and Type RR?

Ok, to those people who had experience with AD07 on the track..... Are this AD07 tires good during wet on the road?

I beleive this AD07 tires are good for track and road use.... right?

danny101,
any comment? since u have tried it in the wet during your mme testing last week.

If the tyre is made to run good on dry, it would have to compensate on its wet handling wouldnt it?? Correct me if i'm wrong. But personally i think it is pretty good on the road. Just dont try to "pek" corner at 200km/h! Hahaha!
