This afternoon the car timing drop to the second line at rpm meter. This lead to the steering to vibrate and the car became under power thou i floored the pedal. Respond is slow. What would be the cause of this problem. Went to Mitsubishi Service Centre but they cant do anything since airtrek is not in their computer system. I am in Ipoh now for long holiday, normally i go to Ah Wah . Anyone knows any specialist in Ipoh. I change the Air Flow Sensor almost 2 years ago. Thanks

Is it only during idle?
Is the check engine lite on when rpm drops?
Does the boost fluctuates during acceleration?

Try at idle and turn the steering. If engine rpm drop and stall, it cud he stepper motor. But answer the above questions first.

Hi, bro
Yes during idle . If the gear in N position , timing is normal. Accelaration is sluggish. Engine check lite did not appear during idle or moving. Boost is according to what u have said. Just did the steering testing , rpm is moving up upon turning to left n rite

Bro, u said u chged the MAF sensor 2 years ago. Was it new? According to your description, cud be MAF sensor again. Before that, check all your vacuum pipes ensure no leaks.

It was brand new, cost about Rm1800 if i not mistaken. Change at Ah Wah old shop in Balakong. Will check all the tubings .

If brand new, chances for it to fail is slimmer, not that not possible. What air filter are u using? Let's see your vacuum pipes first.

My air filter is normal type. No brand. Took the trek to mechanic "bawah pokok"today. Upon smelling the smoke frm the ekzos, he said only three cylinder is firing. Open up the plug , one was burnt n the tuibing was wet. I did engine wash on my own a day before this systoms. The tuib was dried and all the 4 plugs was change(Iridium).Throttle body was clean as well by using foam sprayer. Timing n power was back to normal but upon leaving the shop , i floored the pedal. The car was jerking when the rpm reaches above 3000. It was a soft jerk. Went back , he could not rectify n send me to his friend shop. Upon diagnose no faulty code was found. They suspect O2 sensor, coil or the plug cabling. How can i check the tiubs on my own? How many O2 sensors does airtrek carries n how much it will cost? Thanks bro .

By any chance u can borrow a set of ignition coil for testing? If u said after u wash yr engine, maybe it's the ignition system. Besides, u diagnosed plug problem alrdy.

Will try it out here or will go to the mechanic tomorrow. I just curious , same Iridium plug i change with Ah Wah long time ago was Rm200 but here in Ipoh it was only Rm 156. Could it be because of non ori plug?

A lot of fake Denso Iridiums in the market now bro. Dunno yrs fake or not.

or maybe same situation as mine last time.. its not fake but it is for other N/A car put into mine... only use for like 3 to 4 month then kong already.. better check. Denso iridium code num for airtrek turbo is IW20.

other than IW20, it is wrong.

I think i better bare with the situation temporary untill i go back to Kl. Will take it to Ah Wah. I guess it must be the plug. The packaging of 4 plugs did not come in a single packaging but individual box for each plug. My mind only kick in after leaving the shop yesterday. I went back to the same shop today and ask him to dismantle the plug. Well its the wrong plug and he refuse to rectify saying its my fault. Its okay with me cause I invested Rm 200 to learn on his capablities. Thanks guys for all the help and hope to meet up with u all one fine day. Cheers.:wavey:

been there bro.. i know how it feels.. many times already kena. spark plug 1 time, cable plug 1 time, brake 1 time and so on la..
any bad experience i will always share.. so anyone else can avoid.

Let us know if u come to KL. We will try to meet you at Ah Wah's place.

Depends on what is the problem. Could be stepper motor or MAF sensor. Or maybe, just loose vacuum pipe. Send it to Ah Wah to check.

Have you installed the cam? What's the difference?
