Guys,

Would like to have a topic where members can list down list of oils (engine, gear, ayc, brake) they using and feedback.

Engine Oil - Any good quality synthetic. Mostly Petronas 5W-40 or Mobil 0W-40, bu if feeling generous, Motul or RedLine 10W-40.

Transmission Oil - I mix 1 part Redline MT-90 with 2 part MTL

Transfer case - Redline 75W-90 GL5+ (Light or Heavyweight Shockproof recommended for those with ACD, tho)

Differential - Redline 75W-90 GL5+

AYC - Mitsi Diamond SP-III cos can't find a synthetic version.

Brakes - Lucas DOT 5.1

Radiator - Toyota Coolant + Redline Water Wetter

I used HKS TBR for de previous run... N currently using Sunoco 17.5W - 50 Full Syn... Bought it from our MLOC member - Slivia!!! Feel tht de engine is quieter n smoother... Response not bad... As i jus changed it for a wk... Might need longer time to do a small little review here!!!

Cheers!! :_:

If you want really great feeling oil, try the Motul 300V Power Racing 10W-30. This is the only oil I've ever tried that felt like it made a difference in performance. The top end is like silk and you feel like you can rev all day long, but the downside is that the viscosity is a bit low so you're sacrificing some protection for performance plus the oil reduces friction so much that there is almost no engine braking left.

Note: this is a race/qualifying oil, so you need to change it frequently.

Lanevo, I'm using Sunoco racing oil same like S9, already done 3000km+ now, so far so good, looking forward the result during 4000km & 5000km. We are using 17.5W50 grade bcos in our M'sia tropical weather make our 4G63 engine become hotter. It might not be the best oil in market, but is 1 of the good oil around & it have similiar oil property & quality with HKS, Redline, Motul & with very attractive price for MLOC & zth member. more detail can get it from www.sunoco.co.jp :_:

Basically, if u looking some thing which can provide u good protection for our engine even during hot temperature is better go for full synthetic engine oil made from ester base which have better thermal stability.

Cannon, actually our engine should use at least 5W40 engine oil for better protection when running under harsh conditions of hot temperature, high revolution and heavy load. If your car with some mod or higher boost, should get higher viscosity like 5W50. 5W30 is too "thin" for our engine, yes u can feel the engine is lighter & more responsive, but oil will break down easily during hot temperature & harm to your engine, unless u seldom push the car to limit, seldom boost it or seldom trap in traffic.:_:

Mari mari, siapa mau Sunoco engine oil with attractive introduction price.
Spec that i have.
Street spec - Ultra Synthetic 5W40, 5W50
Racing spec - Xpower 12.5W40 & 17.5W50

yeap.. 5W30 is more suitable for VTECs rather than 4G63T engines..

I had tried in order of preference,

1. HKS Racing 10W40 (Semi-synt, Japan not the N1 Thais punya)
2. HKS TBR 15W50 (Full synt, Japan Also la)
3. Motul 300V 15W50 (Full synt, double esther base)
4. TRUST F2 0W40 (Full synt)
5. TRUST FGT 10W40 (semi-synt, no longer in production..replaced with F3 series..F3 haven't tried coz cannot find)
6. ENDLESS 15W50 (Full synt)

As mentioned by Cannon, some oils are meant for racing/track use only so its lifespan is really short. Have to change pretty often.

For #1, I usually felt it's consistent performance and even tried in SIC ..temp was consistent throughout but once after 3500km, then it starts to deteriorate.

For #6, really on the last coz is really good but only last about 1000km. Thereafter, the oil temp goes up like boost meter on normal driving !! LoL

P/S: Still got 1 tong of Endless Full Synt 15W-50 at home..anyone wants ? Lelong lelong !! hehe

Next in my menu is definately Sunoco..was eager to try Redline because of good feedback from MLOC member whom had tried but from paper results, Sunoco's (Xpower, racing specs) is more 'superior' especialy on the viscocity index at it's oil boiling point comparisons.

Ohh yeah..I went to take a look at my HKS oil tong, it's written there explictly "For Racing Tuning use only"..hehe. That explains it....

Btw, I forgot to mention I used Blitz engine oil before..nothing to shout about...Hmm.

B18C-R,

U oso forgot to mention de Conoco oil u tried la... LoLzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... Share a bit here la... Dun b 'Kiam Siap'!!!! Hahaha...

Nabeh..the Conoco Oil I flushed out after 2 days I 'donated' to the mamak outside my house to 'masak curry' la.... I told them to use Conoco oil same as their Cocunut milk also...LoL

okla...just kidding. My apologies if I offended anyone using or like Conoco engine oil ah. I had 'not so good' experience with the Oil but nevertheless, I felt is good just that is not suitable for Turbo engines.

Yeah, I'm a bit reticient to use 10W-30, too. The only reason why I'd contemplate using it is because Mitsubishi previously released a TSB recommending the use of 10W-30 in the 4G63T to reduce/eliminate lifter noise.

I believe 10W-30 is also the factory fill for Evo's from the shop floor and the recommended replacement viscosity. So not that dangerous kua.

But anyway, I concur that in Malaysia, a 40-weight oil should be the minimum for precautionary protection la.

i think conoco oil still useable.....in fact our BLURAGER has set fantastic runs with conoco oil.....be it on ULU YAM or even on track.....if I not mistaken he has been using CONOCO oil since day 1 :)

THUMBS UP !!!

B18C,
Different user differest comment lah...( Conoco oil )
For me i still prefer REDLINE. CUM!!! But i haven't try Sunoco as well.
Silvia,
Wait for me....i will be ur next tester.

Yes, different user different comment...last time i drive wira, i'm using those cap ayam engine oil, RM25/4 liter...for me i feel ok also..hahaha:_: , but not sure the engine in what condition now:emoticon_U: , but now cannot liao...4G63...dun play play, not cheap to repair it.

LancerEvorry, sure will wait for you & waiting your comment also, different ppl different comment mah... so which type u want to try? the ultra synthetic or Xpower.

Try to avoid exceptionally viscuous oils like a 60-weight oil, unless you're absolutely certain that you need that kind of protection, and trust me, if you're not going on the Paris-Dakar, chances are you won't need it.

Viscuous oils cannot get into tiny crevices efficiently, so things like your rod bearings will suffer from poor lubrication leading to accelerated wear. A worn bearing soon becomes a spun bearing leading to engine parts trying to leave the engine block. The viscosity may also lead to increased lifter noise.

Thick oils also absorb heat well but dissipate them poorly, leading to increased running temperatures and again, increased wear.

Thicker oils are also more difficult to flow, so your oil pump has to work harder to move the oil through the galleries and this increases parasitic losses.

All in all, not worth it if you ask me.

so far MOTUL 300V COMPETITION has not failed me :) its 15-50 if i not mistaken...

Yes, 60-weight is too thick for our street car, unless your car is mean to track use or your car is heavy moded & always push it to the limited even in our Boleh Land road condition.:Not_Impressed:

IF u really want to give it a try, remember to warm up your car to it working temperature b4 your hard driving, otherwise will like what Cannon say, the oil will unable to complete lubricate your bearing, conrod, lash & etc engine component as the viscosity is too high when the temperature is still "cold". By using thicker engine oil your fuel consumption will incrase as well.

DD, then u should try Sunoco Xpower also, c whether it will fail you or not..haha:_:
