Guys .

Need some advice..my engine idling is 2000rpm...chekced with mech..throttle body kaput...I'm using a 1.8 gsr.

Question

1. What other TB can i use instead of the gsr one?
2. Will there be significant difference in term of power or performance?
3. Will there be future/ additional problems if i were to use (Q1-answer).

I've noticed in the forum that the gsr TB is 54mm whereas the vr4 or mivec is 60mm. Can i use any of these TB's? Will it be a direct fit? Would it be beneficial to use a 60mm?

FYI : My engine is stock standard including I/C except using metal gasket.
 
many of my frenz that using a 4g93 na engine ... upgrade their t/b with a mivec t/b. u can feel the performance difference.
i think it the same thing to apply for gsr engine.

i think your problem does not lie with the width of the TB, but on the sensors ( is that what you meant by TB kaput ?) . then maybe you can shop around for some ISC sensors instead of changing the entire TB. i don't think the butterfly opening of the TB has anything to do with your idling at 2K rpm. if it does, then maybe all it needs is some cleaning ??

Ur porbably rite...coz my check engine light is on.....must be the sensor...will check back with my mech....any idea how much the sensor(ISC) would cost..??

I am also encountering the same problem. Any of the sifus here know exactly what is wrong in my case?

Normal idling was at 1100-1200 rpm. Thn suddenly jumped to 1700-1800 rpm. Adjust this and adjust tht, managed to bring it down to 1400-1500 rpm. thn few days later, rpm dropped to new 0.1-0.2k rpm only (engine is damn quite, it is like driving a luxury car) after some hard presses on the gas pedal. Went to my mech and he changed the 'throttle switch' for me. Rpm was normal until few days ago, i did the same thing---I revved a bit (not recing with anyone tho), idling dropped from 1.1k to around .8-.9k. Was damn happy cos petrol consumption was a wee bit better. Thn yesterday, rpm suddenly went back to 1.5k. Adjust again and managed to bring it down to 1.1-1.2k.

What is wrong with my car??!!
 
Just want to ask is the throttle body like Wira 1.6/1.8?

If so, I guess the gear inside might break already, the small cracking pieces might stuck inside.

yup the problem did not come from the t/b but the sensor the one that already kaput.
last time i have search for the sensor but whos going to sell just the sensor. they will sell the whole t/b.
 
guys...sensor is ok...only tb kiok...checked........so can i use an evo 1-3 tb..do i need to do i modifications???
 
For your information, last time when I'm driving a 1.3 Gli also the same. The Lambda always lose, if lucky after change can stand till 6 months, the lesser is only 1 month. Happen to all my friends even NON-TUNE or MOD done. Because the Lambda made from plastic, so lose easily. :(
 
If you get the whole 60mm TB then no need to Mod but need to port your IT opening to match the larger TB... a relatively cheap and good mod here. Good luck!

i'm surprised ! but the TB doesn't have any sort of sensors on it ? how can your idling be going bonkers ? why don;t you DIY clean the TB 1st, theres alot of sifus who has dunit b4. check DIY forum.
you're right, sensors are dam hard to find, BUT i did encounter sifus here who told me to look for it myself at subang chop shops. they said that sure got 1 ! well, for me no time to look, and so i paid for the whole TB.
one thing though, i've already changed the TB ( 2nd hang ) twice ! my idling is still dam low !. maybe it;s also worth it to explore other options, wherby idling control is overwritten by ECU ? might be expensive, but do some costing and risk mgmt yourself & decide lor....

i always see enlarged tb for vr4, evos etc, but what about 4g93t any place to enlarge it?
 
guys ..just got myself a EVO 3 throttle body...from the looks of it..no need to port Intake coz it comes with the intake pipe...not like the gsr wan...so just have to get bigger hose to connect to the pipings ....have snet it to be installed..will know tomorow nite wat the results are..will keep u guys posted...by the ways...the size is 60mm compared to gsr's 54mm.

alucarD ...the intake memnag tak ngam with gsr standard piping ..thats y i mentioned that need to change the hose .....anyway will post pics later...

bought n installed the throttle body..but still idling thesame at 2k..then chekc check the ISC kaput...so have to change that..wil post pics of the TB soon..

yea lor, that dam isc thing is a real pain in the buttocks !!! only small thing but costs us a bomb, my plan is for the next time mine kaput, i take the dam sensor and bring to an electronics shop to custom make one ! besides ,by then i'l hava a choice of spending like RM 400 ++ for a whole TB (sencondhand somemore) ...
any sifus here know of anybody that does these sort of things ????
 
I also hv this problem yesterday. My idling is at 1.5K to 1.7K. Speedz my man... how much is the ISC and TB and the workmanship. Do post if it solves ur prob ok.
 
hei man..my problem solved...changed the TB to evo3 tb...i think ur isc only kaput...u can check wan..get another isc from potong kereta n test...

i boguht TB with ISC for rm300..fixing rm20 only..

since i upgraded my TB to evo 3, i still haeve my 1.8 gsr TB plus isc for sale..if ur interested..pm me..
