Anyone doing stretched tires as their daily setup? What are the con's of stretching the tires?

I'm not talking about insane stretching, like using a slightly narrower tires than you should so the sidewall curves in a little instead of bulging out.

Not extreme like this;

rather a milder stretch;

nice 1 bro if u manage to get a rim..but putting in narrower tire instead of wide tire...

im running on stretched tires as well... not too xtreme... front 205/45-16 on 8" wheel and rear 235/45-17 on a 9" wheel. usually tire wear will happen at both the edge

alot of VW and Audi cars owner in the states runs stretch .. super stretch ..

I think one major concern with be the tire popping out of the wheel. Check out this BMW below.

Also some brand / model tire are good for stretching, some are not. The Falken 452 is pretty good.

His spec:

Wheels:
Work Meister S1 3pc
19x9.5 +29 w/ 3mm spacer
19x11 +17
Tires:
245/35 and 275/30 Falken FK452s

can stretch.. but usually stretch tyres are lower profile.. mild streching wont hv any problems if the tyre u r using have good n hard side walls... but problems will start if the fender is rubbing the wall of the strecth tyres too much...overtime the walls will crack... also extreme cornering is not recommended or the tyre will pop out n destroy both the rim n tyre due to strees n pressure on the walls...

stretch tyres usually people use due to too low offset rims to fit with their cars...most r for nice stance... but it cant perform on high speed n aggresive turns.. if you r appling strecteh tyres with low ofset wheels+ low profile tyres.. it is recommended to knock the inner side of ALL FOUR fenders to minimize scraping which can and will harm the side walls..

amount of stretch on a given set of tires depending on 3 major factor.

1. Rim width
2. tire width
3. Tire profile

E.g: Say a 215/50-16 will be lesser stretched compared to a 215/35-18.

I've ran a 215/35-18 on a 9J before. Noticeable stretched, but not that extreme too.

It also to a certain extent depending on the brand/model of the tires.

trying to fit a 185/60/14 tire into a 8.5jj/9.5jj rim...consider as stretch tire right?

anyway,some picture to share with u guys...:biggrin:

enjoy....

i normally ask the tire shop guys to use those lorry tire inflater... pre pump into a tank around 3 bar. and release one shot thru the side. 1 Q settle. like the 2nd video....

Renxun, why it will be like this? just give a huge shot of compress air at the sidewall makes it stretch outwards...I'm still unclear here...:confused::confused:
