Spark Plugs

Hi there...I need some advise on the plugs of my car.

Am currently driving a wira 1.5 (carb)...Around 2years ago (can't really remember), I changed the plugs from the original ones to Denson Iridium and according to my mech I had to change the cables as well...so I did.

Problem is lately I've been experincing sudden jerking of the car especially in low gears...the jerking isn't that bad and it goes off as quickly as it comes...But still it rather annoying. I also had to replace my distributer recently coz it broke down. Got a 2nd-hand set from japan.

The thing is I've changed replaced my plugs with the original proton ones (Bosh) as advised by another mech. And the jerking has gone away.
My question is,
1. Is it possible to use new denso plugs after this or is the jerking caused by it?
2. Does the new distributer in anyway play a part in the problem? Maybe it wasn't meant to be used on the denso plugs.
3. Spark plug cable change?

every shift your car got jerking then its your spark plug ware off oledi so nothing to do with the brands la ..... in my experience la ......

jerks have nothing to do with sparkplugs... iridium plugs will jz last longer... i also dun see any problem arise due to ur sparkplug cables....

perhaps is ur new distributor...

Hrmm...but how long would they last? Would 2 years have worn them out?
Not sure about the new distributor though...got my mech to open it up and they said the coil was still in good condition. Really hoping that's not the cause of the jerking.

So it would be okay to use the iridium plugs once the bosh plugs are worn right? Is there any specific plugs that can be used for the 4G15 engine? Coz my mech said sumthing like the plugs aren't suited for my engine...

my opinion, since u are jz using 4g15, jz stick with normal plugs will do... iridium plugs wont give much effects lar.... dont waste ur money....

Use 4 head plug like Bosch super 4. My old Iswara also no problem with it. Somemore can do backfire(exhaust blow)

Eh? Something wrong with this statement.

Backfire or whatever you call it, is caused by unburnt fuel being dumped into the exhaust which then ignites there. This may be caused by several reasons, running too rich, inefficient combustion, and so on.

Hardly got to do with your sparkplugs unless they are crap or not doing their job properly, which I don't think is your point, right?

My point here is to say, spark plug normally will not contribute to jerking.
For the back fire is done by me, just to annoy people behind.

When anything happens, the best way to troubleshoot is change back all to original first.

Yeah...I guess I better do so...
Car running wierdly since I've changed too much :p
Even changed back to the original air filter unit (the round one)...the open pod air filter made my carbs really dirty...

Hope the ori cables won't cost much...So basically its not the distributer right?

1. Check the distributor setting, is it too advanced?

2. If jerking still continues, check your fuel pump. Maybe your pump gonna kong soon.

I had experience the jerking problem before and finally it turned out to be the fuel pump not pumping .....almost kong.

Btw,adyzul...reffering to the site you posted;
How much of the electrod arm are you suppose to cut off? And how do you make sure the gap is reduced to .010" than norm specifications? Using the feeler gauge izzit?

Has anyone tried tis yet? Tempted to try but juz worried it might blow my engine!

Just follow the measurement as in the site. ~ about 3mm.
File the tip to smoothen the edges. We didn't use any gauge....just agak2 only.

My friend had done it and said that it also saves fuel.

My mechanic said it's good cause it completely burns the fuel with larger sparks.

I too just had mine done last week.

After installing back the plugs....your idling will surely go up....make sure you lower your idling.
