Photoshoot for skyliners

z34... just a thought here. If you start at 11am, the sun will be up and it will get very very hot. It's going to be pretty tricky to shoot with hard shadows and lighting that up with 1 flash (or even 2) might not cut it.

I suggest you either start shooting at 630am or at 630pm, unless you know of an indoor location.

Also, with that many cars turning up, are you going to shoot individual cars or group shot or both. You need to manage the time as well, as it can get really long.

I'm not a professional photographer, so take this suggestion with a roti telur Goh Tong Jaya. :)

Good luck bro.

z34, I suggest u dengar kata-kata orang tua.. Blood Red dah tua dowh..

Jokes aside, I don't think Kermit will be going out anymore until I get the clutch replaced.. I'm waiting for the clutch to arrive from Japan which should be in a couple of weeks (dey Gobiz, make sure u sell to me aa..)..

U guys have fun, morning, noon or sunset whichever it will be.. :burnout:

red_line (ER34)

can anyone pm me the contacts so can contact you all when i arrive there...

blood red, thanks for the suggestion.

actually the time i estimated is IF you guys are going uphill. based on my previous experience with you guys going uphill, basically i can only reached putrajaya by that time (11am).

since you guys have no plan to uphill this week, hence i think i can ask the members to come earlier for better lighting. but to think that it is to held on sunday, how many of us can wake up early enough for this meeting?

and since no uphill this sunday, here i updated the details of the event

Day : Sunday 13th February 2011
Time : 8.30 am onwards
Meeting point : Masjid Putrajaya (we'll move to a few other nearby location for different setting)

Thanks again blood red. really appreciate it. as for the shooting, i have a few ideas in my mind for composition of group photo as well as individual. if the turn up is really big, i'll just concentrate on group photo while taking a few detailed shots of interesting features of any cars. the places i have in my mind is not so exposed to harsh sunlight as far as i know(will recheck tomorrow at 8.30 and 11.00 am)

everyone ok with new arrangement?

other than that, i would really appreciate it if any photographer can come to shoot with me just in case i missed any details.
you know, the more brain, the more idea, the better

z34, you know best.

Would be good if you can post the pics of the location here. Maybe others can contribute their ideas on how to take the photos.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

will go to the locations this evening and put the picture up by tonight insyaAllah.

thanks

went to putrajaya just now to check the location i had in mind + scouting for new location.

location 1 : Dataran Masjid Putra

it may look cliche but i really want to try to use that building as background. my plans are
- individual car (one by one). this will not consume much time.
- group shot. this will consume more time as i would love to scatter the subject in front of that building (not really in front but somewhere in the middle of that driveway)

location 2 : precint 14 (produa service center)

basically my plans are similar to above plans it's just that maybe we'll spend more time in this location since the surrounding is quite nice and i plan to do the detail shots here. based on my observation (on 6 pm) this location is pretty much covered by the bukit and trees around it and the fact that each block is close to each other, i hope it will not give harsh shadow to the subject. worry not, i'll come back to this location tomorrow at both 8.30 am n 11.00 am to check the shadow again.

location 3 : the bridge near PICC

IMG_7595.JPG

the architectural element in this construction is very appealing (at least to me) maybe we can stop for a shot or two (10~15 minutes is enough i think?)

location 4 : pullman / putrajaya lakeside

i didnt have pics for this location but i have some idea on how to execute a group photo in one not-so-abandoned road.

location 5 : taman rimba alam

IMG_7583.JPG

this is my favorite location among all. the twisting road really set the picture nicely. attached picture is taken in low angle but i believe if the camera is raised higher, it'll show the twisting road behind. HOWEVER, i just realised that this Taman Rimba Alam is not open yet. but i asked people who live nearby and they said that it's okey to go up just to have a look. i'm not sure about this. i think if the owner of the car don't mind, only then i'll proceed.

location 6 : road towards PICC / Pullman

basically i don't plan to stop and shoot here. i want to do rolling shots along the road. further explanation of how this shot will be done will be given to final participants.

location 7 : taman warisan pertanian

people said that they got delicious roti john here

that's all for tonight's update. will update more tomorrow.

z34, you've done a great job searching for locations.

If I can suggest based on location:
1. Better do this at night. It would make a much better shot then day time.
2. This location would be the best. Quiet and away from prying eyes. Also, it would be nice especially nice with blue, red (ahem), yellow, or basically any garish colored cars because the backdrop is plain.
3. Not so nice. Besides, police always kacau this area one.
4. I don't know where this is.
5. Quite ambivalent about this one. You gotta bring a ladder if you want a higher angle.
6. I don't know where this is.
7. We can definitely go makan here.

Also bro, what do you think of these http://azmir1.blogspot.com/2010/04/r35-gtr-photoshoot.html?

Anyways, can't wait to see your final pics man.

actually i tried to find the location you mentioned in your blog (i'm a loyal reader! :wavey: but can't figure out how to get there. i don't even know how to get to the masjid besi. cause half of the road after putrajaya bridge is closed for Karnival Wow Putrajaya. (that's why i don't choose location near the bridge)

actually rolling shots can be done in any road. the emptier the better. i chose that road basically because (hopefully) there will be more than one car hence i need a long road so i can shoot all of them one by one.

i would love to shoot car in sunset but since i never shoot car in sunset, i'm afraid i'll fail to shoot and wasting my time figuring whats the best setting. plus, sunset is a very short moment. to get one perfect sunset may take longer than a sunset can last. hence, why i chose that particular period of time (8.30 onwards)

come along bro help me get a perfect shot. hehehe

oh. and ladder is one of my to-bring equipment. but the big one la. my father use to replace our atap rumah. but since the road surface is slanted, i dont think can use ladder. perhaps climbing on my car is a better option

z34,

The Masjid besi road is parallel to the main boulevard where the gomen buildings are.

For rolling shots, you mean you will be standing by road side while the skyliners rempit by? or will you be in another car and shoot from there?

If you want to shoot sunset, you can't have many shots. So you'd have to plan your shots way before dusk. Then when the time comes, just snap snap snap. To me, sunset shots, CLS - *PERFECT*

As for ladder, it is worth buying the 4 step ladder if you're really into photography.

I'm not sure if I can make it because I'll be busy doing nothing on Sunday. We'll see.

for the rolling shot, i'll hang through the window of leading car and snap snap snap. my plan is to make them in a line of same speed and give sign to them to come a bit forward then snap! then give sign for them to speed a bit to give space for next car and the process will repeat till the last car (at least that's what is in my mind :hmmmm: )

Canon don't have CLS. you teach me la. :D

nikon or canon, both produce pictures :top:

hopefully things will get as planned and as smooth as it can.
