Hi guys.
Had an accident just now. Same case like simon, roundabout case but not as severe as him, chassis bent and all. Was happily cruising along home when i decided to take the long way home (want to enjoy driving my car more before i reach home) and thats when disaster struck. Damn. First time having an accident with my true love, so I guess this warrants a lengthy post somewhere. I like to read about interesting posts like this so I guess you guys would enjoy it too.
Just another 12 o'clock turn before i reach the main road to my house, a kancil came relatively fast into the round and when I flashed her (a kid driving with parents) , she just slammed the brakes probably out of panic, in the middle of where I'm going. In this kind of situation, even a 6-pot couldn't stop in time. No more horns and lights next time, I reminded myself.
Coming outta 9 o'clock, she's going into the same direction as mine, 12. I dont really understand why would she come to the inside of the roundabout. Bah. Malaysian driving license. Too easy to obtain. Or probably she was aiming to cut the deep apex of 12 o'clock after coming out. :(
Anyway, I moved aside and came down, look around at my car in agony. Touch, look, touch, look... curse the luck and then proceed to talk to the daddy. The kid was still in her driver's seat, probably still peeing. Suprisingly I wasn't the usual me, screaming and cursing at anything that annoys me. He admitted it was his daugther's fault and he saw the 'whole situation' before I could even accuse Malaysian drivers of stupidity. Just kidding, it was so obvious it's his (daughter's) fault. But then again, Malaysia has some really funny 'accident rules' about who kisses who's butt, BUT that doesnt really apply here. Hmmm...
Talked nicely and we had an agreement to meet up and asses (to evaluate?) the cost of the damage and if it's not too high proceed with repair, cost borned by him. Nice Indian chap, just living nearby my house. Repairs will take place near our house as well, a local mudguard ahpek that did a shobby job to my dad's car. Dont have much choice since he's offering to pay. Hope I wont regret this. I won't, right?
ANYWAY!!! The damage are at the left side fenders (bent in quite a lot, very little dents), bumper paints peeling off everywhere, headlight ALMOST,ALMOST screwed. Can only close halfway, just a little bit more and I think I'd have to get another headlights. Then the signal indicator lamps are jutted out (of place). Bonnet also pushed higher because of the impact. Besides that nothing much. I guess the 2-pots helped alittle and cushioned the damage. Almost certain the impact didnt damage the chassis.
Only thing is, I dont think the repair costs are as little as a few hundreds because from what I see, paint cannot be applied evenly to a bumper just at an area, no? If my demands of repair (or cost, of course) are too high, we'd probably report and claim insurance from his company since he wont be able to pay up. Luck come in pairs, so does bad luck I think. Engine keeps dying on me randomly too. Sometimes it just refuses to idle without massive throttle. Gaaaaargh. Have to consult sifu EFN later on.
Okay next up is a very important question:
Do you guys have any spare parts I could use here? Aftermarket bumpers, clear signal lamps, skirtings, or even the original SW20 bumper. I might want to use these if that chap decides not to 'settle' and I go for the 'claim' route instead. Pictures coming up as soon as I gather the courage to look at my car again, AND after the battery finish charging, hehe.
p/s : Btw, I watched Constantine on Monday and it was a really great movie with great storyline. A must watch. :)
