Newbies questions

Please post any of your questions here and hope that all ICE sifu help could help..

let me start mine 1st...
i hav heard many bout using seperate amp for sub and component set...
all i wanna know is..is it possible if i power my sub and component wit one 4ch amp?
let's say 2 ch for component...and 2 ch bridged to the sub...
and pros and cons?

heh me is too newbie..since mine oledi hv stock cd player...whats left is to install good speaker system..wan to play very loud boom2x musics..heh what brand is good and what to install??? for a start..let say my cost would be around rm500 onli :P anyone can helpp??

If you want loud, get an amp and subwoofer for a start.

For RM500, check out brothers for an amp and sub.

yes you can. Use channel 1 for left speakers and channel 2 for right speakers. Then you can bridged channel 3&4 for the subs. If you are running tweeter then you can use your HU built in amp to drive the tweeter.

:D i also ever asked this question... but my fren(electrician) told me.. u need to change almost 90% of the components in the amp...

get a new one.. less hassle...

Actually i got a question too... does it bring at harm if i use a low power ampfilier to power a sub? I mean a 150rms amp for a 300rms sub... but the sound is not so powerful just nice with bass.... (not into char-kei spl) would the amp burnt or the sub burnt?

which one is better? pros and cons.... i heard that it is much more easier to tune if use separate amp, is it true? thanx

no neither would spoil, just that your sub will not be optimized to its full potential :) [/b][/quote] thanks for answering bettle.... one more silly question, Using a 4channel amp, i bridge 2channel to blast one sub, and leave the other 2ch UNUSED....(not connecting any speaker at all ) will it damage any part of the amp? I can feel half of the amp housing is warm and the other half is not..... would it burnt ? (coz not putting a load on it...) [just want to put one 10" in my small kenari and probably put another 10" when there is a need for SPL... :P ]

[/b][/quote] wah~ thanks sifu appleyard for the reply... wat u mean is use ch 1 for left component and ch 2 for right component?isnt the component come wit tweeter as well? y still need to drive my tweeter wit HU? and one more thing...how bout the High frequency and low frequency thingy?do an 4 ch amp can tune high for 1st 2 ch and low for the other 2?

WHen using a lower powered amp for the sub... just watch ur gains. A lot of people will whack the gains up to get better bass but that causes the amp to clip and fry the sub.

If you leave 2 channel unconnected, the amp will be ok.. just current draw will be similar to if 4 channels are running.

i think what he meant is by running active...
normally in a passive setup, by using a passive xover, you only have 1 input on each passive, thus utilizing only 2 channels from the amp for the component.
If you're running active however, you need 4 channels, like the valeraine components

yes, 1st 2 ch can use for high or low, depends on the amp also. Certain amps can certain can't
