Guys,

I'm new to the Toyota Forum. Just bought myself a 1885 LE. It is a 1.5 Manual and everthing is stock standard. No power steering and even power window.

So now a little bit gatal and wanna to do some mods to the car and use it daily to go to office.

My questions:

1. Wat engine can put inside (looked at ae92 and ae 101 the other day), are these two my only options? If they are wat is the best price and where? Wat comes with da halfcut? Btw, I'm looking to put auto tranny..

2. My dash very teruk. Wat are my options?

3. Can put power window and electric side mirror or not? From which model?

Guys thanks for your help and pls feel free to add additional comments.

TQ

if ur dashboard very teruk it is not a problem for u loh...since u want to transplant engine anyway...use the dashboard from the halfcut..since it is much more better quality...from japan mah...but make sure the halfcut u bought is not put under the sun everyday...have fun transplanting engine...toyota rules!!!

interesting u got a 119 years old LE.. 1885 model lol....... got pic?
hahaha
put silvertop or blacktop lor.. , if u like high torque engine with 180hp go for AE101 4agze engine. all of them are less maintainance.

THATS AN OOLD CAR!!! :o

first and formost, buy new/better springs and shocks, service ur brake calipers and replace brake pads (if necessary). dont forget to check body for rust or cracks/holes in important areas i.e. engine chassis.

and theeeenn....

find a good condition halfcut, transplant a 4AGE 16V AT from AE92 and the dashboard as well, throw away ALL of ur old LE wiring (at least the front part of the car) even the dash. run ALL AE92 wiring up to the meters and lights

settle lor. cheap oso..

why, cause acoustic said so!

i have seen ae111 dashboard in an LE b4 ... damm chun and fitting ... probably oso depends in the mechanic who did the transplant laaa ...
lots of engines out there suitable for your car as mentioned by the sifoos above .. so its your choice !!!
btw ... sifoo ae80typoD is correct ... get your chassis and brakes done up first .. and oso toyota is slower but cheaper than mod than hondas laa ... why ??? COZ SIFOO ACOUSTIC SAYS SO !! huahahahahaahahahaha ...

aiyah, TOYOTA SUCKS laa...

dont regret when you transplant this and that, then modify this and that and finally lose to VTEC... cos VTEC got SUPERMAN POWER...

hi bro ae80typed, me going to put ae101 into the le this friday/saturday. ae92 rear disc, fuel pump, shocks, engine, wiring, dashboard everything masuk :) can't wait man!

Anyway, thanks for your advice!

i think its the 20V. no problem mate.. good luck.

disclaimer: u may be in for a hard road ahead. dont come back fire me if/when the problems start cropping up!

*CABUTS!*

Ya, no turning back indeed! :D :D

Someone ever said " Welcome to MOD world, dude"

Most important find good mechanic. If not remember to buy enough supply of panadol :P

acoustic ninja sensei uses AE101 side mirrors on his KE, not sure whether the electrical functions are preserved.

i myself am using AE111 motorized foldable side mirrors on my LE, they required cutting, grinding & drilling the old mirror mounts. IMO its a minor mod, but really altering the door forever. luckily AE1xx side mirrors are cheap and aplenty rite now

going to try tracing the 5 wire functions and regain the electric control of the mirrors sometime in the middle of next year. switches were sourced from an AE101 1/2 cut courtesy of acoustic sensei-sama (my AE111 mirror control switch was missing)

will post pics when i can borrow a digicam from friends.

errr...correct.

I just lost to Honda Civic EG6 in 400m drag by almost 1 car length.

Damn...their car damn light and have better acceleration.
But I think if I change to 15" rim and lighten the car abit should be able to go side by side. Currently using 16".

Errrrr chu....CAMSHAFT! CAMSHAFT!!, dont waste any more $$$ on rims. Save enuff for a minimum 264/9mm pair and you should see significant difference. And then go to TRIAL Tuning spirit for Installation/Valve/Shims adjustment.

CAMSHAFT!!!!!

Of coz I also want but it's damn expensive.

Any cheap "lubang" for chamshaft?

At least 272/9 mm. Higher than 9mm lift will cost more oney (valvespring). :(

Chu, consider this.

- Custom camshafts (Intake & Exhaust cams) - RM1500
- Installation + Valve/Shims adjustment labour - RM300+
TOTAL = RM1800.00

RM1800!!!!, it's a lot cheaper that any new Taiwanese rims + tyres, exotic ICE systems & other stuff that we would normally waste on!.

* I'll give you a hint, when Bill Sherwood when he is in KL the next time, just ask him to custom order a pair for you from Australia. Give him $$ first laaa and then when he return u need to give him your existing cams because it's something like a trade-in.

Or you can send your camshafts to Powerzone for them to send it to Australia to do refprofiling.

I I have RM2000 to spare now, I'd go for this.
