Hi ALL GUrus out here,

I am a newbie who has just join the ranks of Mivec, 1.8 Hybrid in fact. yes Having Mivec wiring, blacktop mivec top But a 1.8 4G93 Block (non turbo).

I have some friends who are mivec owners as well, however I have some important questions:

- I am using Mivec piston heads apart from that everything in the block is 4G93, would there be any problem? Compression rate is around 10.9 :1, I am just worried if in the long run would this develop to become compression sickness? And what exactly is a compression sickness? I am currently on a normal 0.8 gasket.


- I would be going for some changes on a bigger fuel pump n injectors to around 290 CC, however I am thinking of getting a SAFC cheap to tune it, would this be sufficient? I am no hardcore racer since I unerstand the fact the having full comp is defintely the best, bt just wondering if SAFC is suffient enough or simply a waste of time n money ?

- Apart from perfromance cam like Jun cam, adjustable pulley and full comp is there anything else that I can upgrade further for performance, of course the money should justify the amount of horses.

- Just wondering where can I get hold of performance cams? How much are those? Brand new?

- I am currently looking for a SAFC, or SAFC II or VAFC...anybody who has this? Good pricing with good condition?

1) did u bored ur block ? if not than 93 piston should be okie ?
2) i would suggest not to taken vafc and blah blah change ur ecu maybe get a emanage or microtech is much much more better performance
3) Looking for camshaft ? hmm i could possible give u some answer after next week bcos 1 of my friend still waiting the custom cam to install maybe i might install as well if everything goes alright. is a 306 degree cam hehe

Any 1 can answer him about 1.8 ?? i m not too sure about it esp about compression what piston suggest and blah blah ..... AH LUn maybe u can help him ?

For the information to hybid or oredi done a mivec 1.8 :

1) Cannot use any NA block because inside the block u dun have any oil squeezer
to cool on ur piston .
2 ) Better dun go back for mivec piston ... Compression will be too high for it ..
very ez to burn ur conrod bearing
3 ) Dun waste some money on SAFC ... budget way get a branded fuel regulator
or if got money go for microtech ....

Bad sympton for mivec 1.8
1 ) quite difficult to start ur car ( CR to high )
2 ) hard to rev more than 7500rpm .. ( unless full balance, cut crankshaft )
3 ) quite difficult to tune ur engine .. ( valve knocking sound )
4 ) For using NA 1.8 block ... piston ez get crack ...
5 ) 1.8mivec need to have very good oil cooling system ...engine oil temp rise very very fast.

Hope this information can help ur getting more to mivec ....

Many thanks to zeneger n henryfoong for sharing; However I have a couple of points to ask further

1. Sorry but I left out the fact that I am currently having a fuel regulator which is FSE, running at 2 bar plus

2. starting car is alrite, idling at 500- 700 rpm

3. quite difficult to tune my engine ? why knocking sound? can explain further on this?

4. mivec piston esy get cracked? n burn conrod bearings?
under wat kind of conditions will this happen ?
My current CR is around 10.8 - 10.9

5. hard to reve beyond 7500 rpm? how is it like....very slowly or gradually? or should it be very fast ?

6. engine oil temp is currently stable

7. THe above symtoms would happen how fast ? coz I just finish my conversion project, how long would these symptoms start showing ?

yeah md not for performance more for fuel economic... cheaper 2k-3k ?

it seems like going to be weekly ones.. got check at satria owners thread in proton forum.. :)

ermm bro ddeygreystar.. cant help much on technical thing.. me newbie my self.. still learning from all our sifus posts.. :D
 
serious anot halfcut shop can get a mivec MD for about 2-3k only? sure boh? got i also wan ar buy one spare also can
 
guys i got question wanna ask...how much does it cost for a mivec e.c.u + wiring??..thankss.. :lol: :D
 
ecu + wiring..........erm....dats a rare combination to ask for.....n very hard for ppl to sell....from wat I know its 3k for ecu + wiring + mivec 1.6 head.......half cut should be around 4200 - 5K depending on mileage....i got my half cut for 4.8k mileage at 67K only :) hehehe
 
hey ken u going to fit in a 306 cam in ur car? so high got power anot ar? where u get those cams from mind telling me :)
 
not me install lah is ah loon that night u also meet him 306 of course power lah especially high end should be install by this week.
