midrange vs midbass

i just installed a 6.5" midbass to my door. then i notice there is another range call midrange. anybody care to explain to me? which one is more suitable to put at the door?

usually midrange will places at kick panel or on dash.

i tot dash should be tweeter? meaning i can put a 2way midrange on dash board ar? itsn't a bit big?

Normally midrange speakers are 3" to 4" in size and are used in 3 way systems to act as a "bridge" to "enrich" those frequencies between the midwoofers and the tweeters.

oh.. so where it should be place? at bottom or above the dash?

Mid range normally help improve sound staging, you can put it on you kick panel by customize the kick panel but the sound stage would be like kinda low.
The best place to put it is on the A-Pillars with the tweeter. That would really enhance the whole sound stage.
To do that, the A-Pillar have to customize, modify it, mould it (sorry for my english).
A lot of competitors that compete in SQ competition are doing it. Running this 3 way in front is superb.

ok thx buddy.. because when i tried to play an orchestra cd with only tweeter n midbass, got some instument cant be heard. my friends 4"jbl midrange can.. thats why i was wondering where is supposed to be placed.

you may want try 4" Macrom, they are pretty good as well.
i have been using it for 2 weeks now, pretty clear crisp :)

for a two way system, izit consist of midbass + tweeter or midrange + tweeter?
midrange is usually a 2way speaker rite? meaning its tweeter together with 4"speaker..

2 way comps normally consist of midwoofers and tweeters.
If you opt for the midrange/tweerters combination, you'll lose those lower mid frequencies in the region of 40hz ~60hz.
Midrange is just a speaker by itself.
If it combines with the tweeter in one housing, it's call the coaxial.

thx for the reply.

wat if i replace my tweeter at my dashboard with a coaxial speaker(but dunno how to place it) will it produce better sound staging?

(1)another thing is that currently i'm running high pass from my amp to my midbass.(i think its 80Hz n above)


(2)will it be better if i placed a passive crossover to filter out the higher frequency (around 4~6kHz) so that the higher frequency will be played only at my tweeter?


(3)the thing is i scared the passive crossover will suk a lot of power from my amp


(4)current my 2 channel alpine amp is connected parallel to both my midbass n my tweeter (my tweeter is protected with a condenser on each side)

If you place ur midrange at ur a-pillars, though stage height will be better but it is harder to get the iamging correct due to path length differences.

oh.. means have to custom made the pillar to hold da speaker lo.. lots like its not easy. better leave it aside first :lol:
