Aloha ,

Hi, i'm planning to change my engine oil soon...(b4 raya) Just to know from your experience, which oil engine, gives better performance in terms of pick-up & fuel saving etc, rgdless if the engine is standard or not standard..

1. Shell
2. Petronas
3. Amoil
4. Duckhams
5. Q8
6. Adnoc
7. Redline
8. Penzoil
9. Mobil

1 more thing, what are the criterias for choosing the right engine oil type for our car e.g. semi-synthetic, full-synthetic, mineral? Does it depends on car type, engine type, driving type?

:)

I am using Castrol magnatec.Pls click below link

http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=82914627&contentId=6005899

I think it not listed inside ur list..

for the past starting bought the charade until now I still using castrol.Just only upgrade it to magnatec after convertion.

Even My car also got Castrol with daihatsu sticker. It was recommended to me by daihatsu at IPOH.

Forgot bro :)...how's the feeling using castrol magnetex....? I'm using duckhams right now...
Is it advisable to frequently change oil engine from one brand to another? Any drawbacks?
How about using oil treatment for the engine...Is it suitable for gtti engine?

Maybe next week I can try castrol magnetec too, to see the performance..;)
Opti, what rate do you use 10/15/20?

have been using this magnatec for so long already
this is excellent semi for my engine i think
so far had no problem at all with the engine
used on my 1st saga and now changed to L5 also like 10 months with magnatec
really cooled of my turbo when i change oil with these
fyi, this oil got this molecules that like a magnet which attract to all 'besi'
so they protect the engione especially during startup in the morning
my rpm also go down faster
every 5k i change

I use Carrefour brand 20/50..only RM29.90.. :) Previously I use Amoil and Pennzoil..Also 20/50..No metter what brand, u should use 20/50 la CB70..

Try used the feels it.

Usually people stick to one brand and some based on others advise.

DONT Frequent change engine oil brand if u dont know.

Not adviseable to used oil treatment. Some might occur knocking. If u still want.. up to u.

Prefer to maintain to semi or fully synthetic engine oil.

Agreed, i heard that someone also told me not to use treatment oil as it will cause the stain (e.g. rust) at the cylinder wall to dump at the engine's bottom, which is not good. Since castrol manetex has the ability to attract the stains, then there is no need to use engine treatment oil right? Correct me, if i'm wrong..

I guess, I can also try castrol magnetex soon... :)

Just serviced ma car .. Used mobil engine oil and NGK Gpower spark plugs .. All engine oil will perform very well in the first few hundreds of thousands.. its only when u reach around 3500km will u know if the oil is really good or wert ... i treid using shell before .. seems ok la .. but can last at max 5000km la .. after tht .. car dem draggy .. so now i use mobil .. more by 8 buks .. but what the heck ..

and .. USE good spark plugs !! ... dnt buy the cheap ones..u try to save on spark plugs.. it will bite u in ur fuel consump...i bought the NGK platinum one for around 50 somthing ..

Thanx for the advise bro  , i didn't know that upon reaching 3000km+ that we can actually feel the difference in terms of performance....Last month, i've used duckhams, now only about 2000km+ left before replacing the new oil....As for now, the feeling is still smooth i can tell...Yup i think i still need to change to new spark plug sooner or later since currently i use very lowya brand one

Anyone has used duckhams b4?

Used it before too ... its works fine too ... if u dont rev ur engine to the max always .. u can add on to the engine oils lifetime..same goes to the spark plugs..

its pretty hard to determine which is the best in a particular price range .. but avoid using unknown products..

so, oil selection issue ya? here's my pov..
from my old cb23 to my current 4efte, to my dad's unser, ive tried more den 20 types of oil from 10w-30 toyota, to the most expensive castrol RS 10w-60. i can write down all of my experiences wit those oil, but its better not to bore u guys. thing is, castrol magnetec isnt the best oil around. it causes tappet sound during start up, for its thinner den those 20w when cold. after the optimum temp is achieved, then only the tappets sound disappear. as for castrol RS, its worth every penny, even if its also 10w cold, it doesnt gives out any tappet noise when cold start. y? beats me.. so, what's the best oil ive used? just as good as the RS but costs 4 times cheaper? its lubrioil, one oil change on my previous engine and it made all the difference. just imagine, i tried petronas, shell, pennzoil, etc. but nothing improved. cold starting was a nitemare, even have to play wit the throttle during 6am cold start. tappet sound was horrible, tak tak tak!!!! once poured in lubrioil, the next morning the car started wit a crank. only one crank is enuff, tappets sound slowly disappear, never to be heard of again. FC wise? well, if +-200km on hiways (previous RM1.52/liter, 4efte engine, kuantan-KL, nite time) for RM10 wit hard driving is good enuff for u guys, its okie i guess
well, dats my experience anyway:)
lubrioil mineral (iam using this, currently) RM35
lubrioil semi synth RM48
no need for a fully synth i guess, for the mineral stays clear even after 2000km (2nd service, after it cleans the internals during the 1st oil change)

woah leo, this is something new.... ;)

btw, how do we grade the oils? the bigger the number, the thinner the oil is izzit? what kinda oil would you recommend for high revving engines??

btw, where do we purchase this lubrioil?? as now im using high-rev semi-syn oil.....

Extremeleo,

Thx for the info man...:)
u're using lubrioil, what's the grade 10/ 20 etc? For old engine (2nd hand), it is advisable to use slightly thicker grade/ mineral-based right? e.g. 20w-50 especially turbocharged engine :)

hi, bro ive been selling this lubiroil for quite sumtime, think about 2 years or so. every carton is sold out in days, nowadays i dont have time to restock so keeping business quiet for a while. restock is for own use, unless if there r orders.
if i remember correctly, the lower number indicates the viscousity at lower (think its supposed to be at 0 degree C) temp, and the higher number indicates the visco at optimum operating temp ie about 80 degree C. i wud alwiz advice to use a 50 when the engine is warmed up. castrol RS is a fully synth and is engineered to have 60 visco at optimum temp, so its better but the price tag is like killing me. for normal engine in our climate, 20-50 is quite okie:)

yep, for an old engine u shud use a slightly thicker oil, a 20-50 shud do the trick nicely:) even though the multigrade is the same, the reaction may differ depending in the blend and how they r mixed. as i ecountered before setling for the lubrioil

I suggest you try Q8.Best of the lot.Alot of motorsports fellas also using.120bhp below try 10w-40 or 5w-40.If engine got more power put Q8 F1 10w-50.Very smooth.

I'm using Mobil 1 on my HD-EG. 5w-40 I think...
First after transplanted I used semi-synth to flush out the earlier oil. (Castrol Magnatec) then Mobil 1 all the way....
Tappet or whatever... no problem so far.
Hope the engine will last another few years..... :P
