After sitting in Stanley's S14 gian already. Can a 4 wheel drive gearbox be locked at the front, thus converting the car into a FR? How can this be implemented, if at all possible?

someone posted about it in zth before. dont know real or not lar. he says a wrx did it.

but...

CarismaGT
it is possible for WRX bcos of the engine layout... the flywheel positioning are more or less facing the same side with the FR cars...where by the Evos are not.. there is this aftermarket gadget for STI8 that u can switch the power to RWD....

the WRX u saw in the Japan GT in Sepang couple of years back are running on 2WD and its RWD....

hehehe...danny...bitten the drifting bug eh...kakakkaa

buy FR car la..buy toyota KE30 and put 12A rotary inside enough already... :P

i dun think so can convert to FR leh..our gearbox config cannot permit it leh..

unless you pasang one FR halfcut terus la.. :P

haha yea la after experience drifting on a FR an FF can throw away already..keke so much more fun compared to a FF.

buy KE70 leh...cheap cheap + halfcut + pasang = less than rm 15K. ;)

if you mati mati want your putra become FR can la...pasang 4WD front driveshaft take out lor... :P  :P

power terus out 50% :P

yea.. i saw stanley drive it when i pick up some stuff from him yesterday night
S14A SHARK EYE

Got any links to read about it?

its been done by a galant vr4 in NZ , he basically took out the front differential and weld the center differential and it runs on RWD .

i think perdanas can be converted to FR. cause they can just bolt on the 4wd system right?

but power distribution is another thing la.

My friend did this in his evo 1 but the car run wild.He then set back to original 4wheel coz by using only rear wheel drive, more than 50% of the pwr wasted.

it doesn't get wasted the 50% power goes back to the rear wheel thats why your friend's ride goes wild. The rear wheel is getting extra 100% power & probably could not handle well especially if your friend has done extra mods to his evo 1 for more power.

Why do this when you can probably get the money you spent to do this to get a cheap RWD?

Cars are meant to run on the drivetrain the way they are engineered, by doing your own drivetrain re-configuration you'll upset the weight balance and handling of the car, of course it runs wild. :)

anybody saw video option #125, the guys in the states
did an fr job for an integra using a crv diff or something.
They didnt explain it throughly though ...

Yupe watched it. Wonder how they sort out the rear limited-slip. The car looks funny though when it's going sideways.
