Hi to all fellow toyota sifus, new to this section and would like to have
your opinions on this.

Am pretty interested in one of these not-too-well-known coupes, but at
the same time am concerned bout running it for long term, mainly
availability of parts.

Understand that the 4e-fte engine from Starlets could be swapped in, and
I presume this would be more parts-friendly?

Should be testing one out these few days, will keep this section updated!
Thanks!

4e-fte engine from Starlet is good choice ... if u do want to swap engine

better fine the EP91 engine ... 4efte engine is cheap and the parts is easy to find .

good luck with ur modification and welcome to toyota geng ...

Aiyah, this Cynos actually no good one lah, lan-ciao car, stupid one, better don't buy. Only sisi use this car. Like MX5 also, so girly, see also not siong, ah ah-kua car :(

when got MAN use this kind of car one???

MAN should use SW20 lah, brutal, powerful, sexy, seductive :) heheheheheheh If not use RX7-FD also keng - like that only man mah :) muah ha hah a haha

actually, because no money, cannot afford to own / sit these kind of car, so jeolous, grapes cannot get sure sour one :) hahahahahhaah

Cynos ah, sexy car lah :) hehehehhe, can open door up_right, so lan-si :) I also want to modify my KE70 open door like that :) sure got more leng lui wanna ride :)

Cynos ah, small easy parking, low weight, better fuel economy, modern design hence very good aerodynamic also. Handling I don't know, never try before.

Cynos owners, please advice our new friend :)

PS Cynos and MX5 owners please don't get mad ah, I was joking only :) hehehhhe

In some parts i have to agree with acoustic. Cynos is kinda crappy car. I couldn't classify it as a sports car. Many says its slow for the styling. Wonder why toyota didn't put in the 4E-FTE as standard in the first place. I think it is just as crappy as Toyota SERA. Also open the doors gulwing style. Was these cars concieved to take on Honda CRX?

i see cynos as sera replacement, same engine but styling wide, i see sera to be more special.

can do a 5EFTE hybrid.

Cynos is Sera replacement model? Damn... now i know where the bad genes come from. hahah. So can we classify this car as a DIY car? I mean u have to do a transplant to make is more credible.

wei don't lah put down like that, bad gene from somewhere.

actually I don't know about that car at all, but from the looks of it, I seriously wouldn't mind owning one, because it's a toyota and we know it will last.

as much as I like to complain they are not man's car, but if you give me one I won't sell but keep and drive every day to replace my KE70 and make my KE70 into a bigger monsta :) hahahahahahhahah

It's looks or design are catered for the daring :)

Sera & Cynos not all that attractive la. If u were given a Levin and a Cynos, which would you choose? Since both looks almost similar up front. hehehe. Give u MX5 sure u take la, best handling car in its class like hell. 1.8 some more.

Actually it all boils down to something i saw last last time. a tricked up Sera racing with a Porsche 911....... at some traffic light. *Shaking my head while slapping it* I have no reason to ban that car also. But somehow... Honda Beat looks better. Also the ultra rare Mazda AZ-1. I saw this car near motorola some months ago.

There is actually an airbrushed Sera in Puchong. Sometimes can see it. The car also features in some TV series sometime back. hahaha.

In the end, i think buy SEG better. Sera and Cynos are for the brave.

Sera and Cynos are for the brave - suits me fine :) _ I'll pick a cynos over levin because can see more levin on the street versus cynos so add some flavor :)

Sera I drove b4, hmmmmmmm, I cant really fit inside la. My head keep brushing on the roof......

Thanks for the input guys!

I too did not know of the Cynos model until recently, though I've seen a few Seras running around. Agree that Cynos is not exactly a macho street machine to begin with, but I'm personally fond of smooth curves over mean looks :P

Saw a 93' auto Cynos yesterday at car dealer's place. Pros & Cons:

Pros
- looks sexy
- some not-too-exciting-looking rims (better than none I guess)
- decent interior
- appears rather unmoded

Cons
- dashboard which is not plastic but some black, rubbery material and has small dents across the top (agent commented that they could get a new dashboard to be fitted in, not sure how true is this though...)
- passenger side windows glass missing, there is a piece of plastic in place right now. Agent said they're ordering the glass
- rather dirty looking engine + modified open pod intake
- stock cassette player.... :P

Have not test drive yet, wanna bring my close mechanic along for his opinions. Think he might screw me gaw gaw though, as current ride (Ford Lynx) already giving him random problems, mostly on parts availability.

Asking price is 'bout 37k, what do you sifus think? Worth it, or should I pass... I wanna join the toyota gang too! :)

ever considered a year 93 2dr levin AE111 ( not sure the model code)its in the range of 30 plus too..

Cynos is good if you want something unique, but dont expect much performance from it. :)

Yup Blitzkreig, on Paseo (US name for Cynos) forums even the owners call it POS (piece of s... you know what). But am attracted to its light body and zippy feel :)

Hmmm that's what I thought so too, Acoustic. Considering the condition of the car as well, it was advertised as 93/96, but turned out to be 93...

Will try to negotiate on my next visit, if it's still there :P

by the way, are you Acoustic from IASCA forum as well? If yes thenI think I've met ya before :)

Yes, my nick in IASCA also Acoustic. Only one Acoustic nick in malaysia forums.

Cynos is a good car after all, I wouldn't complain, meets the requirement of city travelling, some spirited drive, looks different, everybody look at you, chics jump into your car, all good lah :)

Performance no good? Nevermind, change engine lor. I recommend BT 6sp :)

Handling no good, prepare RM 4k and come see me :) sure cun cun after that :)

Heh always liked reading your ICE write-ups bro, still active in the ICE scene? :)

I'm more into the car itself rather than performance, was just playing with thoughts of dropping in an 4e-fte though as it appears to be a direct drop-in since same engine family. What is a BT 6sp engine ya?

But on second thoughs, since its an auto would it be hell to turn it to the dark side, I mean to manual trans?

Will certainly bargain if I really decide to get this baby!

Thanks for reading my posts, still active in ICE no doubt, but behind the scene, R&D and all.

BT 6sp = blacktop 20v 4A-GE 4 throttles VVT with 6 speed transmission :)

Anything is possible, do as you wish :)

Ah... so that's the oddball 6-speed trans engine that I've read about!

Is it me or it seems like there are no other Cynos owners here.... :(

well, cynos is rare after all right, i also didnt see any sera owners here either, hahahahahaha. Blcktop may need to mod mounting tho to put in. Maybe 1 piece? like 1.3 corolla conversion?
