At fast food joints (McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, etc.), or places that is self service, that uses disposable items (inclusive of Ikea's eatery which is self service), do you put everything into the waste bin after you eat, thus, leaving a clean enough table for the next person/other people to use? For me, I clear the table for the next person/people to use.

u mean after we finis our meals in KFC, McDonalds those fast foods restaurant n help them clean it before leave?

be frank, i nvr noticed tat tis is practical in malaysia n normally it is clean up by the fastfood's staffs....that y they hv alots of workers.....

if every customer automatically clean up after meal.......the amount of workers wil be reduced...thus the Unemployment rate in malaysia will be rising up.....

my 2cents

in western countries, individual are required to clean up they waste after meal. fastfood workers wont be cleaning for us,see how the government educate their ppl.. but got ppl services for us oso good la... :D specially gas station, put some babe there... haha....

I use to study at Bandar Utama and always frequent Mcdonalds Centrepoint and every now and then will see some kwai lo eating there and they always clean up their place after eating. I've tried cleaning up once of twice and their staff were giving me weird but appreciative stares. But i don't do that anymore coz quite rightly said, there are so many cleaners in Mcdonalds walking around clearing the table. Anyways, its not a norm in Malaysia to clear up your table after eating. But its different in overseas, its like a must for them to clear due to manpower shortage.

In fast food, yes.
In those economic rice stores, they clean my table when I'm about to smoke the second cigaratte.......

Well, it is NOT a must but rather, individual practices. I happen to think of this because I came across this situation today.

I was at the the cafe/makan place at Ikea, near the link between Ikano and Ikea. I bought my food and drink and was looking for a place to sit myself down. Unfortunately, there was no place so I had to hold my hot dog and my drink and wait. When a family was done and left the table, they had paper bags, tissues, paper cups all strewn over the table. My friend had to push all those wastes to one side of the table and I use the other side of table to eat. Looking around, I could pretty much confirm that there was no staff to clear the table but Ikea placed a few big bins (like those in McDonalds) near by. Of course, as mentioned, it is NOT a must to practice clearing tables but more of being considerate for the next table user, since there isn't any staff to clear the table. Think about it, eating on one side of the table and looking at the left over whatever's on the other half of the table.

That's why I thought I'd start this poll to check out how many would clear their tables out of consideration and being a nice dude/dudette. :)

Just a side note, even the hot dog was bare plain. Just the hot dog and bun alone. The sauce, mustard, onions, toppings, etc. which you usually find on regular hot dogs are also self service, just like the tomato and chilli sauce in McDonalds, on another separate small section. Soft drinks and coffee are also self service in yet another separate area, like Burger King style.

I used to not clear the table but I figured that it was personally more considerate to clear the table for the next table user. Of course, I don't go to the extent of wiping the table clean. hahaha I just throw away what I used.

I agree that it is NOT a must but rather more of an individual practice. However I do believe simple little things like these do reflect a persons character.... You be the judge....

Cheers...

MNC canteen like Ericson at Cyberjaya, SONY at Penang, need to clean your own desk after eating.

Same thing apply to canteen in factory.

ahaha.. at least juz pack them together, dun let the waste scatter...

I actually do try to clean up after my meal at McD most of the time. It's something I kinda 'habitualized' during my days as a student in the States.

But I do agree with huakenny, if everyone in our beloved country would clean up after their meals at fast food chains, then there would be less employment oppurtunities. Then again, these people can be put to better use and perform other 'customer service oriented' task.

yea..we cant apply overseas concept in our country.....in Overseas it is a MUST...but in Malaysia there is NOT....if we clean up ourselves...then the workers do wat a? juz clean d trach can? too easy for them man.....

sometimes it is better to get workers serve us especially in Petrol Station but so sad our country cancelled such services oledi...example = japan..nice service in station

our country unemployment rate is quite high..even University students oso jobless....if most industries apply Self-services concepts....then the chances to recruit staffs become lesser....

yea....dun need to put in trash can..juzx put it together n let d workers thorw or clean it...at least we put it in proper way..not messy...

I agree that we should just pack it up nicely in the tray and not let your tissue, wrappers, drinks be laying all over tthe table when you leave. This is more of a courteous attitude we should apply and it makes it easier and faster for the cleaner or at least the next customer to start eating. As for me, as i said, i don't clear the tables for the next person but i just pack up the stuff in one tray and leave it there and go. Even if the cleaners are busy, at least the next person can just chuck it in the bin, or the most common attitude that is to put it on another table.

hahah damnnn.. i do dat sometimes... lazy to throw the trash, just transfer it to the next table.

Prodigy,
Considering about the staff ending up without a job there, well, I guess I have to leave my waste on one corner of the table. hehe But I can't seem to help it la. I'll throw it all away wan hahaha I guess with only a few people doing it, the staff should still have their job ler. hehe

Y'all should try going to Sungai Wang McDonalds during Saturday's and Sunday's, after 1pm. The staff is not even enough to clean the table ler. hahaha

Another thing, I try NOT to mess up the table with sauces, food litter, etc. At least after I clear the table or put the waste on one corner of the table, the table will not be so messy with sauces and such. hehe

Hahaha, it's not ike that at all. Those Mexicans will actually clean up your mess if you don't do anything.

huakenny,
If you have time, take a peek at the Employment section of the papers. A lot of them always require 1-2 years experience. How are the uni grads to have even 1 day experience when almost every company requires at least 1 year experience? However, some companies would still take fresh grads.
