I was previously using the asus fonepad 7, quite a good phablet but sold it off after 2 months becos it was bulky.

Take the Asus.
Spec wise, it is way better. Don't be fooled by how many how many cores since MOST of the apps are only capable of maxing a core.
Dual core is good enough. Plus, it's 1.6Ghz, unless the Lenovo is quad core 1.6Ghz, no doubt Asus is better.

Asus is better because of pixel density too. 216 vs 170. Lenovo lost so so much.

Secondary camera is 1.2MP vs VGA.

It seems like these 2 are incomparable.

How about pricing?

for a 7" try nexus 7..the 2nd gen one..
