Hmm.. i actually posted the same thing at DIY channel, then only i noticed the ICE, channel.. hopefully u guyz can help too.

Ok, here is my current mission, I wanna DIY a HU installation.

I have one Sony CD HU, which i intend to install into my wira... I have already removed the wira's cassette deck...

but now i realised that the wira's clarion double din doesn't have any description of the wiring codes... i managed to isolate the other socket, which are all the wires to the speakers.

so now left is the 2nd socket, which is the power source wiring. So, i was hoping that anyone can tell me what the colour of each wires represent so that i can tap to the new Sony HU, which has different wiring colour code to represent the same thing. Attached is the pic of the wira clarion socket.

by the way, the wires are,

1) red
2) blue
3) black
4) white/black
5) green/white

thankz!

Do you buy your wira new? If yes the should have manual come together with your car manual. If don't have I have to dig mine to help you....

i bought it brand new, but back at yr 2001.. now only change HU...

the manual doesn't provide any wiring description... only on features and how to use the functions...

so... i guess i'll need your help then. My Hu is the clarion PW547204..

Sorry, bro, my manual also don't have, think that the manual have. Anyway you can try like whatk our friend Concept said, use a test pen, or pay people rm10-50 to install the player for you.

aisey... tot can diy.. coz my charade and my gf's kancil also i DIY pasang.. but that coz i got the wiring diagram of both previous HU... especially when itz sony to sony.. even easier.. same thing.

but now itz clarion.. ai..

Haha, really cannot help you liao, you can try to DIY first, if still cannot then go to acc shop.

Kacang la...

Red +
Black -
Blue (memory)

The rest need to test. If u can power up the Sony by connecting Red and Black, it is good news.

The other connector is mostly for speakers. 4 speakers = 4 pairs.

Ignore the extra 2 cables 1st. Plug in n power up n see. It's harmless.

If still not sure better go to acc shop and let them do, only 10-15 have to be waste..... Safe some small money end up with big problem.

My suggestion

Go buy a test pen. If you like to D.I.Y, it is a valueable tool.

Regarding the wire,
the blue, red and black is for power connection and ground. I can't exactly tell you which is which. Try use the test pen to figure out.
Connect the test pen clip to ground, and try testing the 3 cables. Switch your car key to OFF. If you manage to get the test pen to light up, that should be the constant 12V connection which connects to your battery.
Then, switch your key to ACC, try the remaining 2 wire. The one that lights up the test pen is the ACC wire. The other one should be ground.

For the remaining 2, are you even sure that those wires a connected? My iswara has those wire too but it's not connected to anything. Just 2 loose wire.

Sometimes it can be either an amp remote turn on, power antena or illumination wire. So, probably you don't really need that to be connected right?

based on my ride.... there only 3 (excluded speaker cable)wire u need to connect to Sony HU...

Wira OEM Wiring
1) Red with black line = 12v +
2) Blue = Acc cable
3) Black = Ground

Sony HU
a) Yellow = 12v +
b) Red = Acc Cable
c) Black = Ground
d) Light Green = Ground
e) Blue with white line = Remote

wiring
1 + a, 2 + b, 3 + c + d & E to your amp....

hi..

thankz for the reply.

by the way, my sony headunit...

it stated

red - constant +12v power terminal for ACC
yellow - constant +12v which is energised all the time.
Blur - antenna power lead

so i'm alittle confused...

so that means ...

from sony to wira.

is black to black, then red to red, then yellow to blue?

oh.. ok.. got the clearer pic..

but my sony HU has

a) Black = ground
b) Blue = ANT REM (Dont need coz no motorized antenna)
c) Light blue = ATT (Dont need coz no interface cable for phone)
d) Red = +12v ACC
e) Yellow = +12v
f) White/Blue = AMP REM (dont need coz i got no amp)

oh yea, my wira got no amplifier.

wish me luck
