i just changed my car batt into the maintainance-free type 13 plates 70
before this i was using the normal car battery 13 plates 70
i noticed that the rpm drops more when i on my air cond after i changed my batt... is this normal?
or something is wrong with the batt?

just changed as in still using a few days...? Might be that the battery not fully charged yet, so the alternator is working full time trying to charge the battery hence with the air con kicking in, ur alternator is abit over burdened. If the problem still persists a few weeks after purchase, check the grounding cable for the battery and consider putting in a grounding kit...

well i just changed it few hrs ago
not even 1 day yet
that means its normal to have an rpm drop immediately after changing a new maintainence free batt?
well maybe i'll try to start my car and charge up the batt tomorrow if i can
how lond will it need to have the batt fully charged?

seriously.. after 2 days of evaluation.. i noticed that my light go dimmer than before when i on my air-cond
before this, my old batt dont seem to dimm so much....
after i changed to this maintainence free batt it dimms more!!!
whats the probb??

hmmm after 2 days still like this? Try this and see, with the engine running, disconnect the battery and see whether the lights get bright again. If so, then its confirmed that alternator is charging the battery hence power dims... It could be a few things, maybe battery still not yet fully charged, or the maintenance free battery takes a longer time to get fully charged or maybe even connection loose hence charging slower... I would suggest use a bit longer first and if still got prob then go back to the battery shop and ask them...

hi friend,
there are 2 types of battery for 12V.
1 is 40 for non air-con car use (cheap)
1 is 60 for air-con car use (normal)
double check are you change the right battery....
if everything is right then check your wiring.are you modified many lighting or sound system to your car??it might use a lot of voltage.if yes, will cause your battery spoil very fast just because your battery was mantainence-free.
GOOD LUCK......

wat do u mean by the numbers 40 n 60 ??? do u mean N40 and N60??

if so.. i dun think u are right... i have never heard of non-aircon n aircon car use... what does the battery have to do with de aircon??

kancil is using a N40 battery... de car still use aircon system... the number simply shows the Ampere Hour dat the battery can supply... n the current to crank start ur car.. bigger need bigger battery as de starter needs more current to start the engine..

another thing about the many modified electrical thing is... they do not consume more VOLTAGE... our car voltage is in the range of around 12V to 14.4V. And those electrical items will use VOLTAGE within the range... they only consume more CURRENT.. VOLTAGE n CURRENT is 2 DIFFERENT thing!!

maintainance free (MF) battery wil not be spoilt fast with heavy load provided the alternator is supplying enough current to charge the battery while everything is in use... i'm using a N70 MF battery on my wira and used for 2 years before getting slightly weak(still can start car)... the battery shop boss said it is considered used for a long time... so i changed to a new battery...

bro..

i think u better get ur alternator n aircon compressor checked...

either ur alternator is having prob or de aircon compressor have more mechanical drag already..

I agree too...

start ur engine. disconnect ur battery. check how bright your light with or without battery and air-cond. also check ur rpm. maybe can help. correct if i'm wrong. conclusion........

err.. how to check?
start engine, disconnect batt n on light see how light then connect back the batt see how bright is the light?
how to check the alternator? and the aircond compressor??
bcoz i remember the old batt (not MF) when on air cond the lights wun dimm as much as this new batt do

hi,
normally is the alternator problem...that's nothing will happen to compressor...

KH guan, maybe you're right but that must something different with N40 & N60.ask the sifu, they will tell you clearly... :D

there is no such thing as batteries for cars w/ aircon and batteries for cars w/o aircon. you must've kena conned big time by whichever shop you went to.

the only difference with NS40, NS50, NS60, NS70, etc etc... is the AH rating of the battery and the physical size of the battery. if there is an L in the code, eg NS70L, it just means the terminals are on the reversed side.

and khguan is right. the difference is the Current Draw of your entire electrical system, the Voltage rating remains the same.

try this: off your aircond and audio system. open the car hood and start the engine. with the engine idling, turn on your lights to full beam. if the engine rpm falls a lot, then there's a problem with your battery. if the engine rpm just drops a bit, then it's ok.

now switch off your lights and turn on your aircond, not to full blast, but to the lowest fan setting (so the fan wont eat up too much current) and see if the engine rpm remains. if not, then there's something wrong with the compressor.

to test the battery, switch off your car, disconnect it from the car and measure the voltage across it. you should at least get 13.8-14.4v. a 12v reading means the battery is not charged up yet. if you have 2 cars, charge it using jumper cables. hope this helps :)

well, i'm having a VS installed in my car... so maybe will not drop that much? if i want to test, i should take off the vs wire 1st rite?
how do i check my alternator then?

yea, take the vs off. if ur alternator is not functioning properly, the situation will get worse. but if ur alternator is spoilt, u won't b driving your car anymore :D I once had the experience of driving with a faulty alternator. had to pay a saman far away (15 miles away from town) and the battery started dying. first the power windows went out, then the radio, and then the air cond. driving to my workshop, the brake lights stopped working, so did the signal lights. the engine died at the traffic lights. never made it to the workshop haha

wow serious??

InitialD: Im using Fujimorey brand... nv heard b4.. i just buy frm workshop RM105 MF N70 batt
