Want to ask if anyone has experience with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires. What's your take on it in terms of wet and dry performance, handling and tire wear?

reading online at evolutionm, they really like the kdw, good all round performer they say. but isn't it expensive?

g-Force kdw and g-Force Sport is actually 2 different models. the online reviews so far seem very promising for both models. however, i'd like to know if any fellow zthians use it and their take on it.

I'm using the g force sport. Forget about the kdw, it's not available here u can only read it on the website, and whatever mat salleh's say about it, that what they feel there, not iklim khatulistiwa here. Basically a bang for buck tyre, made in thailand, owned by michelin. Has got 7.4mm of new threads compared to ad07's 7mm threadwear (when someone sells u used tyres make sure u take the original thead depth divide by the current thread depth, which gives u the real %). Threadwear indication is 340 compared to SP9000's 280. But that's quite irrelevant if you want real world statistics. Each tyre manufacturer's threadwear value is not based on the same scale across the board.

I'd say it's a medium to top range tyre, and an all round performer. Wet, i only drive 70kmh max, so didn't really have the balls to test it. Dry performance is slightly below the ad07, and the st115, but better than yoko a520 and sp9000. Overall dry performance still acceptable. I'm using 195/55/15.

If you have a set of sexy rims, this can match it, and of course looks way, way better than the techno 50s that ppl are selling together with their rays engineering or enkei rims.

My 2 sen. :D

without a doubt. he knows what he's talking about. if the g-Force Sport dry performance is "slightly" below the pricey AD07, then i should be on the right track for a slow poke car like mine. and i drive at 50km/h in the rain. thanks for the feedback, guys.

thanks for all the feedback.

It's about 15-25% less than the price of ad07, depending on where u get it, and based on size 195/55/15. https://www.zerotohundred.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif alt='wink.gif' />

You can get it in most of the reknowned shops in sunway, or any shops with the bfgoodrich / michelin signboards.

I used to run these tyres on my car on 17" size. My comments:-
1) Very good dry grip
2) Sidewalls can be stiffer
4) Audio warning when max grip is nearly breached a bit too early
5) A bit nervous on wet road at higher speeds (eg. 150km/h)

Slightly softer sidewalls than others : easier to launch the car with minimal wheelspin.

Comfort : it's there, no worries...just slightly noisy due to directional tyres, normal lah...

Grip : superb! never tried the AD07s but so far been using 4 sets already, never screamed when i needed the grip most, no excessive wheelspin, cornering ok ok la chassis too soft wat..

Price : last time got it for RM 185, now RM 200...ok lah...for 195/55/15 size

Now, nothing can make me change my mind...unless someone wanna sell me AD07 for the same price lah..then i buy one pair try try
ahahha

anyway...threadwear is great...can last at least 40,000kms with nicely aligned wheels. soft compound too but on the wet is so so only. somewhere within 140km/h is still tolerable but please try not to do it again during half of it's life...scary

my recommendation for those who look for budget performance tyre without the usual branding. ;)

i'm getting RM175 for a pack of 195/50R15 at a local shop around my area. i prefer local shops cos if you're in the neighborhood, the word about their image and profile goes around therefore less probablility of getting "con".

195/55R15 is right around RM200. but much heavier.

MitonCT26 - did you average 40000km on your tires or that's the least u got? No matter how noisy they are, I'm confident they're not as loud as ES100 or SP9000. Those tires just go WRRRRRRRRRRRR with pretty good decibels on any road in anyday. does the grip tend to fade like falkens, toyos and bridgestones once you wear them to their halflife?

Wow.. if the the tire walls are not hard enough on a 17", it'd be like butter for 15".

average 40,000kms as i have some negative cambers up front. but 40,000kms are good enough for soft compound tyres like this.

the grip usually fades if im not mistaken applies to all tyres. it's the matter of how much grip they lose as the tyre hardens with wear and tear. in my opinion, it gradually lose grip not like some brands which suddenly lose tremendous amount of grip like falkens. you will not notice the diffrence until you change new tyres.

it's not that the sidewalls are too soft, not like barums, just not as hard as bridgestones. when i go for track sessions or some serious spirited drive, hardly any squeals are heard when you corner hard. it sticks to the road but will eat up some of the sidewalls along the way. see those autokhana tyres and you will get the picture.

hope i got all right. my 2 cents.

Hi im using the BFG GF Sports 155/55/15

dry roads

so far so good. grips pretty well id say. not too noisy and
have a generous lifespan

wet roads

they are OK if u're traveling at moderate speed.
from my own experience , the tires dont grip well when ure
traveling at 140-150kmh during heavy rain. (i know u might ask
who in the hell will do 140-150kmh during a heavy downpour!?? but
sometimes rushing mah...so have to speed abit..)
my car actually felt as if it was running on a thin layer of water
film , if u know what i mean... ok in simpler terms , the whole car
floats during rain at high speed!!! yes!! its true , and its bloody
dangerous. and aso , you can actually spin your wheels at
high speed even if u're in 5th gear... during the rain that is..
and yes im not exaggerating to any of the above.

ill rate the tyres :

8 on dry roads
1 on wet roads

agree that the tyre will spin even on the final gear....
was on my frens car...he was driving around 90km/h on the highway....
n suddenly hit water n the speed meter went up to 140-150km/h...
i saw it myself...kindda scary.....

sounds like hydroplane.

if the car is light enough, any tires would hydroplane despite V tread tires like Goodyear Eagle F1 or Toyo T1-S.

I installed the g-Force Sport (195/50R15) this evening and tested it on Federal towards KL just now. I managed 150-155kmh around the corner at the Mid Valley exit, heading towards Jln Syed Putra. I think I could have pushed harder to >160 or so but I was already happy with the speed I ran. I swear the car rode like it was on rails. Love em. Then again, new rubbers are always sticky. Can actuallly feel the friction when touched.

Road noise is considerably less in comparison to my previous 205/45R16 Yokohama Parada Spec 2. Best thing is no more brake locks! I don't have ABS so brakes lock up all the time previously. Not anymore though. :D

I'll vouch for BFG g-Force Sport.

And thanks for the input, guys. Keep em coming if there are anymore.

coldfish ,

the tyres grip well even if u're doing 200kmh on dry roads..
try using the tyres for like 1 year then u'll see the defects.. hehe
150-160 on dry roads wont b a problem. try them on wet roads
i guarantee your car will buang... sad but true

i think the car weight thingy makes sense...the lighter the car is the easier it 'hydroplanes' at least it applies to me car

hahah...good to hear another BF-G convert! ;)

you will notice that:

tyres grip better than before,

hardly any locking of brakes,

and did you notice that there are no screeching noise when you corner gila?

try not to spread the word too much, then later increase price we all die standing...

Vlad : if your car is light, then mine? featherweight? :P

150-160 on wet roads, any tires for that matter would "buang". rained today and wet traction has been pretty decent. then again, they're new. we'll see. :)

hi there
used bf goodrich g-sport before on my waja
195/45/r16
overall grip is good
but at high speeds(160lm/h) it is a bit noisy (similar to sime)
wet grip is okay, but at high speeds it tends to be a bit wobbly...
jus my two cents

i recommend michilen pilot preceda
not too bad... almost the same cost maybe a couple of bucks more
about 390 a piece for 205/50/R16
sporty grip as well comfortable
noise reduction is also okay

just my 2sen
:D
