Silverstone now 70% full throttle

http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=120130

In the upcoming weekend Formula One will travel to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. This season F1 cars are racing with V8 engines, which will be a big difference compared with the V10 engine at Silverstone.

With the V8 engine the cars go full throttle for 70% of the lap. Renault's engine boss Dennis Chevrier explained about the engine at Silverstone. "We now spend over 70% of the lap at full throttle, and that's a big change compared to last year - one of the biggest we have seen between the V8 and V10 engines. That means there are a lot of high speed corners taken either flat out, or at almost full throttle, which makes life tough for the engines. It is a difficult circuit for the chassis too. We run high downforce levels here and with the high speeds, the car is under heavy loadings for much of the lap. Of course, it's also a big challenge for the drivers. They need to maintain their pace and rhythm during a long, demanding race."

Oh, this weekend race will clash with the World Cup match between Serbia and Netherlands that will kick off at 9pm.

This weekend race will probably have more racers retire with engine failure. Pushing the engine to the max for 70% of the race will make the engine tired. Even if the engine manage to last for this race, it will have problem for the next race.

I dont have a problem with that- I have 2 TVs side by side. I used to watch F1 on STAR and on TV3 at the same time (when it was live on TV3.) I never missed out on the action when the ads were on and the ITV commentary which TV3 carried is much better. Why the friggin hell did they switch it to whatever that channel is- the rest of Malaysia can't watch it live. Idiots.

oh and yeah PS- I am on JB's side I hope it rains on Silverstone too! I'll Be wearing my BAR HONDA shirt this weekend.

"Schumi, FREE PARKING HERE"
obviously it's sacastic banner about Schumi's Monaco qualifying "parking" incident

I love creative F1 fans like these.

And I realise that Renault pit crew a how bunch of funny ppl, they will utilise what ever tv pit shooting coverage to make some entertaining gesture.

Alonso and Kimi push Schumi to P3 at the last qualifying lap. Dramatic!! and I like it!

Kimi's "chrome" like visor is so cool.

hahaha I missed it- had to take my folks out to dinner.

I'll have to get up at 730am tomorrow to watch it because i have a lunch date at noon
I've been avoiding sports reports/news all night to not find out who got pole so i can enjoy watching QF tomorrow morning.

Anyone wanna chat on msn messenger or yahoo chat during the race tomorrow?

Im usually online with live timing on (if they dont screw up the streaming)- chatting and SMSing race updates online (I sms updates to a friend who doesnt have cable)

ARTC, ops, i might have spoiled yours, i posted the result here.
messenger? wow, my eye busy with tv lah.

No worries- I didnt see anything to give it away- I didnt know alonso pipped Schuey to pole at the last minute- I got up at 730 to watch the last round of QF.

Bugger- that Jensen QFed at 19th! WTH

With Ferrari up the Grid- they have a good chance of winning- its because Ferrari always have better tactics and they pit very well. Alonso has to drive his ass off to stay ahead.

Alonso start the Silverstone GP with heaviler fuel load compare with Schumi and Kimi, Renault Alonso still un-touchable at this moment. But we know F1 sport change very fast.

no more foster girl next year, so VIEW it whenever you can.

I missed the start of the race because I had to take my folks out to dinner- again. On the way home I passed a bar to check out the race situation JB was OUT.

I cursed and went home to watch the last 15 laps. Live timing wasnt working too well too *arghs*.

Ok its confirmed - the 2006 Honda engine is shite. Reubens got shat on by Alonso on the straight in the closing laps.

Oh well at least Alonso pulled 2 more points than Michael. I was right though- Ferrari's tactics got Micheal up the positions but not enough to overtke Alonso - and Alonso drive his ass off. I think I like Silverstone lot more now- its got lots of open throttle racing. After Monaco this was very entertaining.

Kimi didnt look too amused during the podium and post race PC (it was more like- oh by the way thanks for showing up Kimi). I wonder what must be on his mind.
I also wonder why Fisico didnt drop the hammer of him in the last 6 laps.

I'm going to watch the race again on TV3 at midnight.

Fosters girls? Nah gimme a Nismo Race Queen anyday.

XANAVI girls are kawaii... you going ?
neither Schumi is happy, he push away the camera on his way for a weight.

OH, Schumi got second only... it seems like he don't have the pace to chase Alonso but it's interesting to see Schumi and Kimi battle for second place early of the race. Schumi and Kimi were so close to each other, only an inch or two in between them when they go side by side to battle for the second spot. Good battle.
Poor Jenson, got let down by his car. England did it in the first round of the World Cup but not in F1.

Watched the race again at midnight- I always enjoy the ITV4 coverage more than the Star TV version. Just for a bit of fun ITV4's Louise Goodman participated in a pit stop and they interviewed Ronnie Dennis during the race who gave his opinion that "it was all in the spirit of racing" in ragards to Alonso's slowing down and then speeding up just before the restart after the SC went out.

ITV interviewed JB after his crash and he brought up several good points- he did have a good start and he was making his way up the ranks until the Honda blew a leak. He sounded really optimistic about the car and the team. I guess its good that he kept his chin up. He was a better loser than Schuey was in getting second and Kimi in monaco.

YEAH I'll definetely be there for the Race Queens and the cars for Super GT4!! Can't wait!

Yah, right after safety car period, Kimi and Schumi's sidepot fighting is the only scene worth watching. As F1 fans we need action as such, agreesive move, without touching.

The pit is funny, I was blurr in the first place what so special about the crew that hold the tires. He even raise his arm after the pit stop, sound like a great achievement he got. Haha. It's chance of a life time. I would like to do that if possible.

Sooner or later the safety car resume guideline will be draw out if Alonso did that more frequent. Schumi did do that in the past, but he just hold 3-4 cars back behind him, but Alonso hold the entire chain!

Overtaking was very hard on Silverstone...all the drivers are using the full width of the track and more since they have less power this year...and they are most of the time on full throttle ...
