3-speed auto how? I shifted down, handbrake, floor, shift up and repeat cycle. Teach me la. (But we're digressing a bit)

If gear level have L, 2 and D, I just shift into the gears as if manual. Of course not good for gear box but that is how to lock them in gears you want. Of course still have power loss in torque converter but you get the gears you want. Anyway, nowadays most autos also comes with shifttronic, steptronic, paddle shifters, etc....
