I got a Beta version...does a full version out already???

anyway..the problem is.......cant trick the OS to use old files...ie just replace certain files in \system32

what happen is after you replace the file..the OS will auto change it back to the default one.....this is madness coz im using an old 3d sound card that only stable using the file i got not the OEM from XP....

anyone notice this????

any solution??

emmm thnx mate...i didnt think of this...i try it tonight...

full version oledi come out... dun use beta.. tipu 1..
not tipu la, ahhaha... just an early bird version la...

i find the real sp2 is much more stable... and the proper sp2 has updates you can download, where the older or 'tipu' one says there are no critical updates at all...

Zul its 266MB. Download using windowsupdate catalog feature. If you have SP1 version Windows it is only 75MB installation through windows update. Works only for legal version. :)

last night bought a full version sp2 at LYP....anyway sent request to get the free SP2 also........so no prob..

anyway the problem has been solved...thanx to taiko starwing for the tips.......learn new things yesterday....now i can enjoy my aureal A3d sound card :D

now the sound card doesnt give any sound...argghhhh why is this happening..with SP1 no problem.........

Any solution???

still sometimes windows will change the file back to ori file..

add hardware in control panel???
if cannot then remove it from the pci slot and reinsert it.

update to SP2 first
then you can reinstall the old drivers from your OEM CD later on
it will give a warning ...bla bla bla... but you can do it

i thought SP2 released for quite some times what?

EG8,

can you take a screen shot of the same menu, but on the 'Automatic Updates' tab?

Just to make sure it's the proper winxp sp2.

OK.Done.Any comment?

Is it true that if we use non original XP there will be more problem in the future?
How about the version I am using now? Any significant problem?

I really hate to install Xp once again in my PC.too many issues on Windows these days.

no choice :P
lah sometimes the XP versions before SP2 got some problems.
actually SP2 fixed alot of bugs and the only significant difference you can see is 'help protect' your pc window. everything else is bug fixes, hole fixes, backdoor fixes and exploit fixes. if you goto microsoft.com you can see the list of fixes :P

so..updating to SP2 shouldnt be giving me any problems rite?

cos i'm in the middle upadting it now....sigh...

Bah... after using XP SP2 for nearby 2 months... I started to disliked it... too many headaches such as compatibility problems with older software for example.

In fact now, I'm happy downgrading my laptop to run Windows 2000 Professional SP4 - fast, stable and simple...
