what is this hook for?

saw this civic at PJ... i wonder what is the hook coming thru the bonnet for?

to carry the engine out? but what for? looks funny... like a ring thru the cow's nose... sorry ah.. i ah beng dunno what are all this things for... issit a "must-have-go-fast-bit" ?

Its really weird when you think of the things some people will put on their cars because they can and because they think it looks cool. Then you can be sure their friends and peers will do the same.

I've always been an advocate of "DON'T SPOIL THE CAR'S LINES". Especially if the car looked allright in the first place (exception if the car has lines like a Savvy, then you need all the help you can get). Spoilers for example could really fuck up a cars profile. But most people just stick one on anyway (because everybody else has one), without thinking if the cars needs it at all.

Then there's this obsession with wanting to make your car look like a racing car, JGTC cars for example.

C'mon. Race cars don't look good, at all. They look fierce and imposing, yes. Some may say they look "cool" (arguable), but they definitely don't look beautiful. How can something that looks so pumped up with steroids and stuck all over with sponsors like a billboard and colours that could blind someone, look beautiful.

Its like Arnold the Governator, with a myriad of body paint and lots and lots of stickers all over his body. Scary, but definitely not good looking.

but why over the hood? would it be more viable to be fr the front, as tied to the chasis.. rather than from the engine bay? it might rip the engine or hood apart leh.

hello..
have it ever cross guys mind.. that the "ring" maybe his dipstick... it mebbe easier to check the engine oil witout have to open the bonnet.... more over its easier to see the dipstick with a ring that big....
