Vtec turbo questions

Hi guys,i am considering turbocharging my B18CR but i am unsure if its a wise decision.Hope you guys can help me out by answering a few questions ;)

1)How is the maintanence for a B18CR Turbo?Is it very high?Is it very different from maintaining a NA vtec?

2)How much will it cost if i want a good job done,and if i want it to add roughly about 100-150HPS?

3)Will it cause any damage to my engine?Is there any risk of my engine blowing up?

4)What happens if i use a super big turbine such as T-88 or similar?

5)What are all the items i will need to change/mod in order to turbocharge my Vtec?

6)How will i know what is the optimum boost i should set ?

7)Is a Turbocharged B18CR reliable if i decide to use it as a daily driven car?

wah...B16C somemore wanna bolt on turbo...last time i saw an article regarding to this B16C bolt-on turbo total 300hp...he done in N1 racing...maybe you can go there and ask when u free...
 
hmmm.... i'm not really an expert but from what i heard there are 2 big things in dealing with turbo cars...be it originally turbocharged or customized/bolted on turbo...its all depends on the workmanship/setup of the car and the way you drive it..reliability is an issue here...i believe with correct setup, carefully driven (at least u hav to warm up n warm down the engine before n after driving) and good maintenance schedule ...it can last as long as NA car does....correct me if im wrong guys...

lets wait for those VTEC TURBO driver to comment further lo...:_:

1) its not that any different from NA but the wear n tear is much more compare to NA bcoz of the heat produced..just use good engine oils thicker would be recommendable

2) rm20k to rm30k+ if a lot stuff brand new

3) good tuning, good air fuel ratio..no problem..

4) can but lag, u need to rev high to get the most power..recommended for high cc engine

5) low comp pistons or thicker head gasket or both, conrods, a good aftermarket ecu, intercooler, turbo, intercooler pipings, bigger exhaust pipes..etc (dont forget good braking power - safety is important too)

6) depends on your mod and turbo used, tougher engine and the big turbine..u can boost more high

7) reliable if tuning is done properly

hi I'm also interested in learning abt vtec turbos....any zthian tat has done it care to share the exprience...

I'm more interested in the 1st stage LPT...0.5 boost

Wats needed

1) Turbo - TD04
2) Intercooler - VR4
3) Injectors?
4) Intercooler Piping - custom
5) Thicker gaskets - can use two?

I'm talking abt not changing the internals....all bone stock...no low comp pistons, no block guard....

Wah Han, Turbo liao lah... For me I feel a bit wasted on B18CR loh.

a turbocharged B18CR can b MONSTROUS!!!!Aerotech done 1 b4,thn dat car got stolen..heard dat car DAMN FASTO!!!!
 
guys...

US's HCI mag claims that the most unreliable b16a internal (4 turbocharging)
is the piston... with forged pistons and correct tuning,
they say stock b16a can stand up to 24psi generating around 500 ponies...

but my guess is their trial is done 'for that occasion' only... we wouldnt know
what the lifespan is gonna be provided our very own driving styles... and
considering how meticulous the maintenance too.
if my eg is turbined, i'll surely unleash hell on a daily basis!! u think the engine
can tahan a few yrs?
 
akuma...i want the cheap and good one lar...not like Uncles expensive one...

anyway I'm more comfortable here

so wat's wrong with a DA?
 
i was also told that for the humid conditions of the Malaysian air vtec turbos are not as lasting as those in the States...there almost all that play Honda have turboed it...also mainly HPT....
 
i have seen clips of vtec turbo eating a dodge viper and a corvette in a 400m race ....vtec turbo with correct setting its a mean machine on the loose ......
 
uuyooo B18CR built with turbo sumore!!!damn tremendous performance u will get ooo...respect la bro hanjackal,respect ur money too hehehe...anyway gud luck,just share some my poor opinion here...ensure enuf budget,proper workmanship,rite stuff installation with rite spec sumore,learn some of respective knowledge..etc to make things done in smile....suggest not to use it as a daily drive..tak sayang ke??find a 2nd lol....tata
