being the twat dat i am, i when ahead and cut my springs despite numerous advices against it. 1 finger gap between the tyres and fender both front and rear. now whenever i take a turn at moderate speed (ie 30-40kmh) the front tyres rub against the fenders.

now i need a solution. some of my frens have suggested knocking the mudguards while others just laugh their asses off. help pls?

bro...well if ur friends laugh we here at zth are here to help...lookin at the situation i think its best for u to get sports springs or get the standard once back...sport springs not very expensive wad bro...its safer thn the current cut springs and will give u better handling....ok

so how much does a decent set of kenari sports spring cost?

so there aren't any other way? was wondering how knocking the mudguards are gonna work out.

well bro u can get a decent set for less thn 350 mayb less thn 300 if u look around properly....knockin the mudguard might just add to the current damage so settle the main problem dont run from it...very bad side effects

GAB seems to be a reliable brand for local cars... cheaper than imports like tein or eibach. but no less in quality.

but i think the tyres r scraping the fenders coz the car is a bit lower than its meant 2 be. changing 2 sports springs might be a clever option. but i cant promise u ur tyres wont touch the fenders again. so u might wanna 'massage' the inner part of the fenders for more clearance. try nearby bodyshop if they can do...

I'll be under the laugh-their-asses-off group.

Get a new spring dude....
knocking the mudguard is a solution; but than again like what is being explained:

the spring rate is just not meant to be for supporting the car weight.

dun knock... get new springs stock or sport... knocking is going to cost more not only money but also damage like what ravingill said...

wat size of ur rims? is it oversize to 17",18" or maybe 19"? like others said, u still can knock off the fender, but if not mistaken, ur tires will only touching it during cornering right? the fender parts dat can be knock was only at the upper one, in ur prob it may touching the side arch section, means dat no use to knock it..

the simple way to find wat exactly the prob comes from is just turning ur stereng during parking to max n u can find where actually it touch, like me b4, the tires was touching the inner mudguard bcos the rim's offset doesn't match my car, change rim then no more prob, haha..

many things to check b4 u changing / knocking some parts, it may come from
- size of rims
- size of tires (larger diameter)
- rims offset
- bla.. bla.. bla..

gud luck ha...

problem solved. sent my car to the workshop today, there was sumthing loose inside the fender.

thanx for the help guys, appreciate it.

it's good that u had ur problem solved; but overall how was the ride??...
very soft??.....meaning to say "wavy"?
try driving a long stretch of road and see how it feels. If you're lucky u wouldn't feel anything.....if not; u'll feel that u want to vomit afterward.
Usually when the spring rate is not right; i.e. to soft, you'll have those "wavy" feeling especially when going through bumps, u'll find the front suddenly dip down after u crossed.

it ain't as bad as i had thought. ain't much difference when i'm driving on smooth road, but it's a bumpy ride when road conditions are bad. overall, the handling is better as the car is more stable, not "wobbly" like before. it's a cheap way to lower ur ride and get better handling, but in the long run it's gonna fuck up the absorbers real bad. but hey, cheap things dun come good and good things dun come cheap.

bro ... can i know what they done to ur fender ??

cos my car also same, especially right fender . But i notice that the 'plastic' sticking to the fender above ur tyre is loose ..... hence it make my tyre easy hit the thing

anyway to tighten back the plastic ? n how much they gonna cost ?

deviant,
I am now having the same problem and there are actually a few areas that needs to be fixed. Problem 1 is that my rims offset is not entirely correct for my satria. The tyres are parallel with the outer part of the fender. This means that the tyres are not inside the fender where it's supposed to be. Problem no. 2 is that I have springs that are shitty. Too soft which makes the car go low and the tyres will hit the fender.

i went back to the workshop dat cut my springs and they did it for free. i'm going back again tomorrow coz the front right tyre still rubs against the inside of the fender during hard cornering.

satria,

send ur ride to ur mechanic, he should be able to fix the problem. i can't help much as i dunno nuts bout stuff like this. sorry mate.

satria_95, means dat ur rims offset was less than +35 rite? the only way my fren done (wedssport wit offset +33) was using harder suspension, so dat tires not touching fender, looks nice when see tires out a bit from fender, like FR car, but feel like hell driving his car, jumpin inside lol..

just knock ur mudguard = RM30- RM50

adjust chamber = RM30

mattz,
I don't know my rim's off set cos everytime my rims are removed for tyre change or whatever, I forget to check it out. haha Here's a pic of my car where the rims are viewable. Mind the blurred blue box on the left of the pic. My friend took the photo while driving. hahaha I jump in my car too when I do 110kmh on road with many grooves (you know, those road that sinks down a bit and then a short distance ahead, the road will be raised up again). I just changed to HWL high-low adjustables and that makes the car stiffer. My previous abs are gab (front) and koni(read) with APM springs all round.

Click on the thumbnail for a larger picture. Seems like the rims are parallel with the car body, meaning, the wheels are not inside of the wheel arches but jutting out.

hmm.. is it the rims wit blue lining?? then better u swap wit me, haha.. looks very nice when the rim n tires looks like dat (outer a bit), but of coz it will hitting ur fender, ur heart n finally ur pocket.. believe ur rim's offset was less than 35, i think there was only two options - skimming the rim's nuckle base (donno wat the name is) > can do at machine shop - change to other rims > different offset (range 35 to 45) hehehe.. is there any other options out there?? my fren had take the 2nd choice, kautim..
