So my colleagues and bosses cannot stand the slow connection, I called TMNet support.

Trying for the past 5 minutes before finally got connected, spoke with Gopi, 4.10PM

Gopi: Hi Sir How can I help you?
Me: My sDSL is very slow.
Gopi: May I have your login ID please
Me: *Gives login ID*
Gopi: Can I have your billing address for verification?
Me: *give address*
Gopi: May I know are you using a router?
Me: Yes
Gopi: May I know how many PC is connected to the router?
Me: *think* 2
Gopi: Can you disconnect the router
Me: Then how to connect?
Gopi: You have to use 1 PC to connect
Me: This is sdsl laa dungu
Gopi: Oh, please wait 2 minutes.
Me: *wait*
Gopi: What router are you using?
Me: Lucent Cellpipe
Gopi: Can you tell me if there is any lights on?
Me: Dunno, should have.
Gopi: Can you tell me which light is on, I need to put it in my report
Me: Really can't tell, my server room is 500 KM away
Gopi: *GuLP*
Me: So whats the problem with the slowness?
Gopi: I still need to put down which lights are on to put in the report
Me: Wait then *Proceed to toilet to fap fap fap*

Me: Okay .. all lights are on
Gopi: Okay I will put that in my report, and will send our technician 24 hours from now
Gopi: Here's your report number
Me: Uh .. ok .. Can I sue you if yuor technician take more than 24 hours to come to my place?
Gopi: *GULP*
 
akakakakakak ... now oni u know arrr? .. we all know their service long time ago .. i think ure newbie for TM Net ... akakakakaka kekekekek ...
 
FYI, starwing is NOT a newbie when it comes to Streamyx or TMnet... hell, we (the TMnet Kommies) have been around since the newsgroup days back 1996...

Also, we have access to high speed bandwidth at TMnet data centres... 400X faster than your average Streamyx broadband service.
 
I have been using always on broadband even before you guys know what is streamyx (beta testing for streamyx)

their support last time is much much better last time when their own support team is doing the actual support work. Now they outsource and these ppl have no darn idea wtf they are looking at.

sdsl disconnect router and connect using PC ? eish !
 
i like the part when u say "can i sue u if ur technician take more than 24 hrs to come" ahhahahaa.. padan muker! ..

for me.. they ask me to call 3 days after i apply for stimmix... den after dat 3 days.. i call them.. keep passing me here n there.. n hang up or "so called " talian putus la.. den call for the whole day.. n call next day.. den oni can get.. wTF.. damn lazy.. they duwan layan me cuz i said i wan to install all myself.. i dont need them to come n install simple thing n i pay them 50 buck.. telekom servise VERY CHAR la.. phone bill charge so high.. n yet.. still got prob wif line.. now i can get to know new ppl/ frens wif cross line.. kakkaa..
 
I remember the time when I was happily accessing BBS systems when Telecon charges flat rate of RM0.03 per call. On a 14.4 bps modem.

Everything is text based, except if you want to download pr0n. Then, having a 14.4 bps modem is king already I tell you!
 
Best part of it, for this case scenario.

Got a call about 5:30 yesterday on my mobile phone.

Sweet voice lady: Hello may I speak to Mr. xxx please?
Me: Speaking
SVL: This is xxx from TMNet
Me: Okay?
SVL: I just pinged your IP address, and it seems that everything is working fine
Me: *DUH* Yah, I pinged my IP address too, and I'm damn sure its working fine.
SVL: *CLICK*

Darn it.

Then, about 1 hour later, about 6:45. Whole internet went offline. Nothing can be done, cannot ping no crap, traceroute only reached the next node.

I had my phone set to redial TMNut's 9515's number, engage all the way for almost 1 hour. Red104.9 FM still blaring on my workstation's Altec Lansing. Nothing else work, STUPID TMNET.

Now, I totally give up hope on TMNET, I shall call I TMNUT, oh yah ..

Pissin me off only. I tell you man, Malaysian's internet is going down hill with ppl like ir hachee working for tmnut, I tell you, it's a consipracy to take over the world man, serious!

P/S: This is a C/P from tmnet.communities. ir hachee is refering to some old felle who works for tmnet that thinks he's godly/immortal/xxxx/ acbc might give more info on that.

Hahaha... those were the days...

I used to hang out at FireBBS, VirtualCity, The Star Online BBS and MOL.

Occasionally, TreeHouse BBS.

After Terrorkom increased the call charges, majority of BBS pack up and evolved into personal web sites that we see today but no longer BBS la... now mostly called forums. :D

What do you expect? Malaysian Internet is a complete butt joke to everyone.

Take my area for example, a high class one... Terrorkom can't even come in and install the lines. They say must wait 6 months to 1 year - area must be 70% occupied. I was like WTF? It is not that I'm not willing to pay for phone service and come one la... the phone service is a basic facility for every modern human being in a modern society.

It is already the 21st century and Terrorkom still behaves like it was STM (Syarikat Terrorkom Malaysia) some 10-20 years ago.

If we have more than 1 telco, this problem will never happen! Stupid G-man! In fact, I have voted the wrong G-man. No more voting next time. Why should I? The G-man is not willing to help me and why should I help them?

All Terrorkom wants is there P&L report. If they invested too much, they are answerable to the shareholders. Understandable but they are the only one in-charge of the phone facilities (at least in my area).

Wish it is like Taiwan where the cables / exchanges do not belong to any telco but only to the Government. They simply let it out to anyone interested to provide phone facilities in the country. But here is different, the cables and exchanges belongs to Terrorkom and they control everything. Other smaller telco have no chance to compete - Maxis and Time.

Sometimes, u cannot blame their helpdesk.
As everyone know they have out source their helpdesk.
Those operator just follow script to key in all required data to open a case.

However, I am not standing at the Tmnet side.
I think the way they operate is SxxK big time.
My condo, same block, some units is using streamyx and my application are currently indefinately waiting list, reason being .... no port! WTF!

Back to china, when u applied for cable or adsl, they come to your house within 2 days.. Cos .. competition .... The faster they installed, they faster they retain their sales as well as subscription.

here ~! monipoly business... This is how our malaysia government work ... Kick competitors out .. claiming protecting the msian company interst but they provide fxxkup service ..

I just hope telco market is more open and we as consumer can realy beneifc from it !

Oh yes! I still remember the old old days hahah!

That time always play Fifa96, where asking my friend to dial into my line and we play for hours .....

Err.. this is nothing to do with Tmnet.. Is our beloving Telekom leh! hehe! So called cheapest phone rate in the region and have to revised the price ..

why they never revised the IDD call since our call never come close to the cheapest phone rate compare to our neighbour countries. .... hmm...

Fuwahh.. BBS.. :lol: I haven't heard that word since the time of Fire and MOL. I used to run my own BBS and had about 4 members :lol: After I malas to maintain I shut it down.

SDSL? Wow.. didn't know Tmnet had that kind of connection. What size is the pipe?
 
On the first day of April, I made another call to TMNut. This time I was pretty pissed.

On my hand, I have a set of traceroutes, both the same day and another the previous few days.

I reported it to the call center consultant. He even asked me for my IP address even after I gave him my userid. He said that the IP that he pinged, looks fine and fast. I have had my firewall to log down incoming ICMPs and blocking it, and there were no activities then. So he did not ping.

I then told him, I too, can ping my IP address and its darn fast. Now, listen carefully what I am trying to tell you. Your TMNet's border router is very slow, I want to know why is this on and off. I can give you the IP address of it, and the IP address of my destination.

He changed the topic by asking me to do a bandwidth test, I insisted that the local network is fine, and that since the bandwidth test tool is located in TMNet, its considered a local network.

He kept on insisting me of doing the bandwidth test, and that he would not proceed with the report if I don't. I finally give in and asked him for the URL to do the bandwidth test.

He asked me to go to TMnet's website and get the link, hopefully can end my call. His nightmare call, I can say. I insisted him to give me the URL for it, and he gave me after putting me on hold.

I ented the URL he gave me, best part is, it says:

Notice

Our server is currently busy or not available. Please try with another FTP server or try again at a later date.

So much for insisting me doing the bandwidth test.

He said he was not being updated, blaming the technical team. I told him if he cannot keep himself updated, how can he support his customers?

The call lasted for about 1 1/2 hours. Mostly being put on hold.

2nd April, I got another call from TMnet, at 11PM at night. Guess what did I do.

Monday, 4th April, a technician came over, we shoed him the traceroutes again. he RS323 into the Cellpipe and there were nothing wrong. He called for for help.

I guess the other party asked him whats my IP address and he do not know how to find out. He was guided to go to whatismyip.com

I dully tell him my IP address and he insisted me to go to the website. Even my directors screw him telling him I know what I know, its even in his technical job order sheet!

Fine, went to the website, I had no l ynx or any browser, so I w get it.

He was on the phone with his savior pretty long.


To cut the story short, TMNet sent the wrong person, this wrong idoot do not know what is going on, do not know what to do and best of all, do not know what to expect.

They even got the balls to call me the very next day so they can close the case by asking me if my connection is still slow. Yes, its still very slow.
 
Screw TMnet!

Today, Jaring Wireless sales person came over with a demo SOMAport unit. She gave me the whole day to test.

Tried at ground floor - no signal!
Moved to 1st floor, weak signal!
Not giving up, put the unit outside the balcony on the 2nd floor and it works!

Speed is 803kbps (for a 1Mbps package)... not bad!

Now is already 5:36PM, another 24mins to go. Need to return the unit. Will ask for the form and register on the spot.

Now, that is what I call customer care service.

Unlike Telekom / TMnet - rude and clueless!

Hell, their wiring contractor provides better customer service and they arrive on time and get the job done fast.

acbc.. i remember last time u said stimmyx can use time's dns server. issit true ? i need something else that the dns from stimmyx. the connections sucks !! i cant stream at all.. sigh.. thanks for the help.
