Dont get too excited!! its not all new, but just old waja with NEW features.

after 6 years in production, CF1 waja finally gets the long awaited SP4H CAMPRO engine in the 1.6 spec.

IMO waja will stay in production for another 4 or 5 years more.

no other improvement were done for the new waja with campro. i believe proton thinks waja is already their best effort and there's little to make up.

good thing about this waja, is that the retailing price remains same as before.

the not so good thing is CAMPRO engines are supposed to be cheaper than 4G18 which MMC holds patent on and requires hefty sum on royalties.

price for waja engine :-
310 [Assembly] Engine...................MD978243....15983.32N
311 [4G18] Engine (short motor)....MD373091....11270.08N

price for new waja engine ie CAMPRO (without any camshaft profiling or whatsoever)

257 [Assy] Engine...........................PW892034..16207.35N
258 [All] Engine (short motor).........PW892021...8213.47N

somehow, campro 1.6 engine ended up being dearer than 4G18.. he! he!

maybe its becoz of the drive by wire throttle body.
at least, such steps taken by proton is heading towards positive action.

p/s even though their shares dropped by big percentage!!

though iv owned a proton b4, proton does not impress me...

look a da 'newest' saga/iswara limited/special or what ever they called it...its da same design/engine maybe from it first launched in early 80s, only added 'some' exotic features and they can push to sell, and suprisingly consumers are buying and supporting it. Now da waja wit campro ??? it still a dated design.

YES, their cars might be cheap, and thus end-user have to sacrifice the cheap products to compensate the quality given. if they can do better in terms of quality and sell at higher price, im sure people will go for it.

look at what other countries reviewed proton...and sadly to say that i couldnt agree more.

There is some problems with fitting the 1.6 campro into the Waja.

hmm...somehow im not excited at ALL!
Hardly a surprise. Just look at the damn thing. Looks about as exciting as a drying wall. Nothing about the bloody thing stirs the emotions at all. Just a damn box with 4 wheels and an engine.

waja had actually passed the normal 5 years lifespan of a car.

its considered abnormal already now.

and those who still buy will be considered abnormal ppl also laa..

yeah yiheng, everything else wud be same.

with new engine, expect higher power output but delivered only in the high rpms

well..i think the best surviving proton car is the saga..

passing the 5 year limit is nothing...if its taken care properly.

i actually think that proton can do better than this...

same price wit new interest rates...EON, 3.45%, others 4.1%

0-100 = 10.8 secs
Max speed = 190kmh

Only front disc brake...Comes wit 2 color, silver & burgundy

That's abnormal? Not in Proton's books. The Saga and its derivative have been around since Rameses II. And the Wira and its derivatives have been around so long that Richard the Lionheart used it in one of his Crusades.

actually, they can but refuse to...

my sister owns an xport model wira and dang the car's
dang good til this day... its oredi 9 yrs old...

no broken parts, no faulty this & that... coz its an
XPORT MODEL!!!! so, we the msian citizens, hv been
given the honour 2 finance foreign proton sales.....

its like that wan...they HAF to sell better ones to other countries..
they have tight testing methods to see if the car is suitable to be sold in tat country...

Yalor, we the second rate people get second rate products at higher than first rate prices to fund their 1st rate product which they cannot make enough from other countries.

It is expensive because Proton has to deal with someone who later sub the deal to someone for profits. Typical way to doing business in MY.

The engine itself may cost less than RM 15k but after adding markups here n there... u know la.

Or alternatively, Proton trying to recoop ROI in the shortest time possible by jacking up the engine cost.
