Went to car dealers, was being offered an Accord with H22A transplanted. Offer me RM58K, yr 95 car. car interior and exterior is fully stock and good condition.

test drove it, found out the rpm climb isnt so responsive. like very heavy and also i rev till 6k rpm, the vtec is not engaged. I ask the sales guy he mention this vtec cross at 6.5krpm and rev till 8k rpm.

to all bros, i thought Honda stock factory vtec crossover point is at 5800rpm?

yeah, i saw it. It was really a H22A. i was stuned too. thr is no piggyback installed and watsoever. AFAIK, the vtec engage point wasnt at 6500rpm one. furthermore i felt the rev is hesistate to build. If i was not wrong, on my previous accord, the rev was very free flow one

Previous owner play high rev? Or it previously had a turbo?

Why do you want a car which is acting weird? I dont think I have ever heard of VTEC engaging at 6500rpm....

true true... so far i havent heard of vtec crossing point at 6500 on stock ECU. but i maybe wrong as im not really familiar with honda

i doubt the ECU can be check easily as the ECU is hidden under the glove comparment at front passenger seat. heheheheh

norm: if the car overall is quite ok, u can always buy the car and drop in an engine kosong later.. previously i've viewed an ori EG6 ... d engine took more than 2 seconds to rev from 2k rpm to 4.5k rpm..which is memang like ages! i'd taken the car if the chassis wasnt all rusted and the sun roof jammed... coz it was priced kinda competitively.... i think h22a engine kosong isnt much... halfcut also baru 3.8k (blacktop from the prelude type...)...

Blackie taikor,

If talk about solid chasis with good interior, well i do agreed that the one i view is quite a solid one. Just that the engine and the tranny makes me worry abit....

then you should be even more worried about this car.....if 3.8k is too much for you....what if u get this car and need to spend more than that to fix it up?

I suggest you forget it and continue your search......dont buy on impulse......

seems u dunno wat the problem is, u have to check from every possible way...

or u wan after u bought, u baru know the ECU is from other car/version?

bear in mind there is a lot version of H22A...

the H22A i drove before, with mild mod, the VTEC starts kick in at around 5.5K, although is auto, the low till high end power is smooth and nice, can makan Cefiro 3.0 V6 at anytime...
