Sportage Engine swap

Hi all,
I own a sportage (the first gen i think) and was wondering what to swap the engine with. I am currently considering to try a similar mazda 2.0 dohc or toyata altezza engine and dont mind not having 4WD. The vehicle is auto.

Reason for change: spent 3k+ on repairs related to "check engine" light (still lit) and consumes feul like mad

Any comments would be appreciated.

this is what happened, first the check engine lights up during driving, so i went to check it out at my mech.

Soon it was found out that the O2 sensor (exhaust) was faulty and changed it, while inspecting the exhaust piping i found out that the silencer also rosak and replaced it. Semua ok until on the way back (about 5km) the light came back on.

Next day i came back and found that an idle sensor cracked, so i replaced it. But check engine still on. So went to KIA for e-diagnose, the thing say O2 sensor faulty. Bear in mind that the O2 sensor is brand new. Dunno wat else to do.

So i already fedup and want swap to engine that is less 'monitered' by sensors, like SR20DE or 3s-ge from altezza.
