Spare keys

Been looking around a few locksmith and key-maker around my area but
couldn't find one that can duplicate the altezza keys.

can anyone tell me where did u guys make a spare keys ?

and how about the keyfob ? any idea where can replicate another
remote control ??

i also tried to duplicate the key last time when i was in japan..i only got 1 key when i bought the car..then the key-maker gave a shot..after complete duplicate it he tried to start the enjin..the key can go inside but can't turn to start..same as the door lock..then he realized that there's a line at both side of the key that doesn't have at his key..that's why the key can go in but can't turn to start the enjin or to unlock the door..

maybe that line is some sort of secure the key from being duplicate..that was in japan..donno about here in malaysia..at last i ordered the key from the toyota dealer..if the one u got is a master key (with the remote), then inside it should got a number of ur key..just give the number to the dealer then they supposely can get a new key for u..it cost me less then 3,000yen for a key..donno if dealer in malaysia can make it for u..

mike, can't give u any pointers on the duplication of key...

as for the key fob....I have been looking around for quite some time ady....have almost turned KL upside down but unable to find someone who can do it.... there is someone in Singapore who can do it.... some shop by the name of Sohxi or Soxi in Singapore can help.... (try googling it) but it come with a price... somewhere in the region of SGD400. They can help duplicate key as well...

Guys...I have a spare done in Taipan area for my car with a Lexus blank. And I have been using it since for more than a year. Only thing is it does not have the auto lock controller on it. for spare keys i just need the key enuf, no need the function of remote.
hence don't care about the controls/buttons on the keyfob.
as long as the shop can duplicate the key is good enuf for me in
case the current one drop into longkang !.

Don't worrie wfhan as i go to lock smith at K.L, try to look for the minit cobler or cheap one for my last pair i got it at S.P arnd RM 25 with along the logo of Lexus as well....... Cheers!! hope u get what u need soonest....

PJ locksmith near the Tmn Bahagia LRT station in PJ does it-but they use a Lexus blank and could cost as much as Rm30-60(cant remember exactly how much I paid).Not many locksmith carry this blank.

lucky when i get my car come with 3pcs of keys. but no worry la since greytezza can do his, i think it shouldn't be any problem. maybe u guys just need to treat him coffee bean for the correct location hahahaha....

can try this website. Simon Locksmith, Transponder Key, Lock @ Johor Bahru (JB) CTK Sales & Services Trading CTK Sales & Services Trading http://www.simonlocksmith.com/ they have quoted me for the for the original OEM toyota key order from japan for around S$260 ...

btw, i just made a copy with a normal locksmith.. RM60 only. :P still works..

last weekend i found 1 locksmith at Jusco tebrau have altezza blank with price tag RM150.
expensive...

today found a small locksmith in USJ, they got this (blank key without any circuit)

Hey mike if you are gonna shop around as long as it took you to buy your tezza(2-3 yrs) you better not lock yourself out!!!
Have you thought of changing locks and alarm system for your ride-to be on safe side?
And you thought Rm30-60 was expensive.
Example of typical conversation:
Owner:have you got this blank(key)
Locksmith:I may, what car is it?
Owner:toyota
Locksmith:Here it is but it says Lexus not toyota(Lexus can charge more-dont care new or old)
Owner:But my car toyota
Locksmith:Mate the blank says Lexus,wanna do it?It will cost you Rmxxx

Actually the cutting tool is almost same as for Abloy keys and not many locksmith own them.

Check you key and your car. Does it come with immobilizer? Like greytezza said, altezza usually do not have immobilizers installed unlike local toyota cars. So if you wanna try your luck, why not just make a cheapo key from a blank and try if can start. Don't just believe the shops who insist you have to buy lexus/toyota fobs for RMxxx, they are out to cheat you.

Me: I need a spare key for my car. Here's the original.
Shop: Hmm this is lexus car key. Gonna cost you RMxxx.
Me: But the car doesn't have immobilizer. Just make me a spare key from any blank.
Shop: Cannot. It won't work like that.
Me: Just make the damn key. I'll pay the RM30.
Shop: I tell you you don't believe. Go other place to make la.
Me: Fuck you. (walks off)

The shop is in OUG btw, right beside the pork noodle/sushi shop.

It cost me RM40 per key at The Summit last time. Look for the shop at basement carpark level.

p.s: that pic is pretty standard altezza key.

ya.. the shop just offer me the blank keyfob.. meaning if i dup the key also the keyfob casing is useless to me.. aiya.. if only u saw & posted the reply earlier, i was at summit yesterday!..
will see when can snake out there again to make the key.
