Soundstream need help

im using soundstream picasso 2.240 to power up 10" infinity sub(model i cant remember).while im listening to my techno,suddenly my sub cant hear nothing .is it my amp blow or my sub blow?help me guys...:cry_smile: i already check the connection.its seem ok to me.and the LED light beside the amp is on..

if amp problem..where can i sent to repair?broke already to buy new amp.. :confused_smile:

Try check the connections : RCA cable, speakers cable, amp gain. If ok, then disconnect and connect back. The LED is red or green? Red normally is protect and green is ok. If the above check and still nothing then you set your amp gain to minimum, select the amp to HPF(if got), lastly take a speaker and test to check is there any sound come out from your amp. If got sound then is your sub blow already. Sub blown is easier, change the sub only. If no sound also, that's it, amp got problem and at the same time you won't know is the sub still ok or not.

do you have a multimeter?

If not then try pushing the sub. If the voice coil is burnt, u will feel rough/scraping movement. If none, take out the sub & see the tinsel leads. Is it broken? Smell the VC cooling vent, got any burning smell?

If got multimeter, just measure the impedence. If it is high or open contact then ur sub VC is gone.

On the amp, any protection light is ON?
1. Check voltage at power terminal.
2. Test speaker output with multimeter. Set it to measure AC Voltage. If okay, u should see some readings there. If not then either the amp is gone or input RCA connection is loose or something.
3. Try to reset any protection on the amp by disconnecting the power supply main fuse for a period of time.

If the amp is broken then u need to send it back to your dealer and ask them to fix it under waranty or what.

My hunch: If ppl say blast techno music then gone the bass, mostly the sub is fried.

Another suggestion to make ur life easier, go to reputable installer then askm them to check it out.

This LED which 1.... normal 1 or protection 1... this the simple way for testing... just try connect to others speaker... & the sub also ..just try run with others amp....

one of methods to check. can only check if the VC is burnt badly. although the best is DMM but if u do not have one, any logical test is useful.

Yarloh, learning time don't know about power needed and power supplied, so this is the price I have to pay. But from this also I learn alot.

sorry guys for the late replied..quite busy nowadays.. .thanks for all ur reply :)
my amp green light is on but the red one did not turn on(red one is for protection..what does it mean?)... i already check the wiring already..took out all the wire and put it back as it was but still seem like no sound coming out from my sub.already try to change to LPF and HPF,still no effect.this weekend,im gonna borrow my friend's amp and see how it was..gonna post it here if i know which is blow ..my amp or my sub.. thanks again guys!

i bought the soundstream from the zth forumer also ;) .. not sure still got warranty or not ..if there is no warranty,then how aa?the guy says he only using for 4 month.oftenly,how long the warranty for the amp?1 year?2 year?is there any service centre for soundstream amp i can send to?

Send back to distributor MAT... why not U test it with your hi-fi speaker 1st... just to confirm either sub or amp have prob...

can anyone suggest me what sub should i buy under my budget.(below rm400)
to match with my soundstream picasso 2.240 ..need ur opinion guys..

Can try RDS sub, 12". Near my place is rm430, slightly burst your budget.
