Dear Powers-that-be (Adian, Amprex representative, etc.)

I'm not D1 competitor (hopefully will one day). Just would like to give my 2 cents.

As everyone knows, a roll caged car in Malaysia is illegal. A car with a roll cage is like having a big red-bulls-eye on our back for our friendly neighbourhood Traffic and JPJ officers.

Could you guys can talk to the authorities (JPJ? Puspakom?) about this.

I mean, maybe somekind of special pass or permits so that D1 participant cars are allowed to be driven on public roads or something.(Something like D1 STREET LEGAL)

I think the number of competitors who can afford to retire a car purely for D1 competition is less than a handfull.

Thanks for listening,

Only 4 point, consider half cage. And 5 round a year, so just bolt on when you need.
Unless you really serious about your own safety, then weld as many point as possible to protect your self. But for a proper race or drift car with proper setup of roll cage, I don't think is suit to drive on road already. Malaysia is not like Japan, the road so bumpy. If you drive with roll cage, yes it is safe but for a certain period your chassis also can't handle.

Next month I will have some rollcage packages that will comply to the regulations available for the more popular vehicles, and I am trying to make them as affordable as possible.

Watch this space...

Good advice from Ivan.

To add to that, I once had a car with a 4-point bolt in cage. 2 hrs to put in, go race for a weekend and later only 2 hrs to unbolt and remove. 16 bolts in total. All by myself.

Easy peasy.

i want to clear something lor..
so is round 3 d1 at shah alam we need to have the rollcage on..?or just the suits..?

faisal i just wan confrimation lor....
so this comin d1 in shah alam onli need suit rite..??rollcage onli on batu kawan rite..??

Alex,

It's stated in plain english. If you too lazy to download just read Joeker's earlier post.

From Rd 3 what and from Rd4 what is compulsory.

Once we enter competiton, The Competitors should undestand the Rules and Regulations written.

please enlighten me, cuz my idea of having a rollcage is that the whole thing need to be solid, and it will be too big to put the dang thing in if you pre-build it. thats why i see alot of people weld the rollcage inside the car.

lets just say you can unscrew the rollcage from the car, how you take it out? or is it that you guys using some rollcage that can taken apart instead one whole solid unit? if thats the case, will it be as rigit as the solid one?

i'm no d1 participant, but would like to know more cuz it would be useful for my autokhana event.

Alex , not scolding la only educating.

As a participant in a Motorsports event it is the duty of participants to read and understand the regulations. Should there be something they wish to seek clarification AFTER reading the regs then they should ask the Officials.

However many Malaysian Motorsports entrants don't even bother to read and understand regs and/or schedules. The just come up and ask this that there here what where when. If something is not clearly stated I'd understand if someone wants to seek clarification but most regs are in plain english for anyone to understand.

hehehh aiyahh.......i sometimes i just need confrimation ma hehe :)
hopefully can join lor....with my perdana....can right.?cause i read the spec and all....??

mons: for u, should add another regulation.. don smoochie smoochie touchy touchy gf @ pit during race

Just wondering. What about rally cars? Many have rollcages welded on direct to all 4 strut towers. These cars have to drive on public roads from stage to stage. So does this mean there is some form of JPJ approval for rollcage-equipped cars?

Prozac,

Dunno about Rally cars.

I have a fren who took part in MME.

He told me cars with roll cage are stictly and legally NOT ALLOWED to be driven on public roads and that such cars must be towed about to and fro.

On several occasions, he has been pulled over by JPJ and Traffic patrols while on his way to the workshop or to the tyre shop for wheel allignment.

Its like wat some said earlier, my fren has to explain about the car's competition status, bla, bla, bla to the officers concern.

Sometimes they tell him to move along but sometimes it does'nt work.

I suppose the only way around this is to have bolt-on roll cages whereby competitors will have to unbolt the cage during off-competition and then bolt it back on during competition.

Abit of a hassle but sure beats getting in trouble with the law though.

Still sounds like a grey area to me, when things are concerned with JPJ as usual. Probably need to get some form of approval letter but it's the hassle of being pulled over everytime.

Anyway, the easier and cheaper alternative is still a bolt-on.

yup true, roll cage on road cars is illegal.
my fren's mme machine was once kena sita by JPJ since his car still got the roadtax..
