Dear forumers,

I plan to install a 1xSUB + AMP + Enclosure..

Enclosure must be quite decent 1 :)

My budget is around RM1.2K

Any recommendation for me???
Currently I have Kicker COMP 12" in mind....

and incase if you guys need more information on what kind of songs I listen, I listen to songs such as those METALS
from Metallica, Cradle of Filth all that type

Sometimes I do listen to soft musics, I need a setup which can play at least balance for all these sort of musics.. not for Techno...

Really need an advise here from you guys.. Thanks so much...

Is there any way in KL or MLK which provide reasonable price and good service? Pls recommend

:)

then in that case the kicker is not gonna be ur cup of tea. Get a sealed enclosure an a sub that isn't as SPL-ish as the kicker. It's probably more suited for Techno. You don't need a loud sub for rock music cuz that'll cover up everything else if too bassy.. I suggest you get something that can handle 8ohms (maybe a dual voice coil 4ohm sub) that has RMS 200/300 watts. Then get a sealed box.

That'll cost you a lot already if you're gonna go for brands like JL, IDMax, Peerless, Onyx, Helix, Aliante. I'm not familiar with other brands so can't help you out there. Yohanne has a sub for sale that's within your budget, perhaps you can get him to let you try and see if it suites your fancy?

Amplifier for a sub would usually mean something that can pump a mono signal out.. like I said earlier, try to go for 8ohm. Usually for rock music, 8ohm and lower power can give you what you want. So choose your amp wisely too... Lots of brands and lots of choices.

My opinion? 1.2K not enuff to get decent sub and amp. :D

Thanks alot for the reply, it helps...

How about Mohawk Orange 12" Sub.??? Will it suits my taste?

Dude, go test it urself! Best way to know is to listen yourself. Go ICE TT or something.. look in the TT section and attend ICE TT then you can test power a lot of subs. But don't get poisoned too much.... :D

Contact Bullet_nos and see if he can help you with that. I dunno anything about Mohawk stuff.

too bad I am in Melaka....

Yeah, I have mssged him and waiting for his reply actually. I don't know whether Mohawk suits my requirement or not.
I have not really listened to it yet.. as you know I don't have any friends who use Mohawk's SUB....

At the moment, I can only hear what ppl said and listen to their opinions and since the chance for me to try out with my own ears seems to be very hard, the only way for me now is to take the choice which ppl suggests that are at least closest to my needs/requirement...

I plan to drive to KL by today or either tomorrow, so I just wish to know is there any place I can go test all these? Btw, where is TT section, mind telling? If possible and if the price is good there, I will fix at KL too... so any place that you guys recommend?

Bro, IASCA Malaysia is having one ICE TT on the 9th (today). Check it out :

Eh.. isn't Bullet_Nos in Malacca too? Anyway, don't rush to buy your amp and sub. Test what you can test first and decide slowly. If you buy too fast you may regret it if it doesn't suite you.

Thanks for the vital informations..

Well, I guess you must quite understand what I really want my Sub to sound like..

So do you guys have any recommendation on what model of Woofer + what brand/model of AMP? (according to my budget)
of coz if exceeds a little oso nvm... :)

MTX with designed ported...

Another head banging fella  nice to know ppl still listen Cradle of Filth and blast them in the car.

With your double bass drum musics sealed sub couldn't really give you the feeling (IMO) and your comps must not be sharp else your tweets will kill your bass (I've had my days :frown:)

Anyways, looking for a suitable amp for it now that's a challenge which I don't know.

I'm just hitting my sub with Shuttle Lab, it works and loving Roots... Bloody Root with added Thy Might Contract he he he

hhhm......why does this thread seem so familiar to me? hehheehhe :P

8 ohm sub + monoblock = no power lor..........

zenn, really depends on the monoblock isn't it? I mean, US Amps rated 1000 watts 4ohms monoblock... means it's approx 500 for 8ohms. Are you saying that's not enough power for him?

I have heard from someone asking me to use JBL BP600.1 monoblock to power up my sub....

I think the amp is powerful enough to power up subs like Kicker Comp, Helix Dark Blue 12 all, right?

David, 600.1 is a 600 watts rated amp. It's a monoblock and monoblocks were designed to hammer subwoofers. Unless you want to power a MTX 23" 60kg Jackhammer, it's more than enough power. :D But make sure you wire it at 2ohms, 4ohms will only give you 300watts.

I was personally using a JBL BP300.1 monoblock and that kept me bass happy until I started sitting in cars that had nicer and more punchier bass than me. Now I'm hunting for more and am very hungrily eyeing the Orion XTR.. 900 watts!! *DROOL*

BP600.1 .. 600watts is rated at RMS right?
Kicker Comp only about 150Watt RMS...
Helix Deep Blue is 250W RMS...

Wow... I think BP600.1 should definitely have no problem to power all these
can't imagine the feeling of having all these in my car now :D

btw, someone sold at Lelong (BP600.1) new set and only have 1 month warranty? Anywhere, is that worth getting?

Thanks for the feedback :)

Uh.. how much? the 600.1? 600 watts RMS.. yup.

It's fine to overpower sub, just don't get overly zealous on the gain knob :D

it's RM650.. someone selling in lelong
is a new 1 but only have 1 month warranty

Hey david, Zenn has a point. Have you got a good sub yet? Btw, this RM650 with 1 month warranty sounds very fishy. I can get it at that price too, I tell you what, I'm looking for a sub-amp as well. Why not we pool together, buy RM650 from my seller (get 2 units) and press him for a discount? :D
