When using ron95
The type of knocking(when used lower octane then the manufacturer recommended octane) is Pre-ignition (or preignition) in a spark-ignition engine is a technically different phenomenon from engine knocking, and describes the event wherein the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder ignites before the spark plug fires. When this occurs, the flame front inside the cylinder collides with itself and does not burn evenly, mean waste you fuel and u can feel your car not powerful before. If knocking for long term will be result the engine damage. it just like when tuner tune the car if tune to rich detonation if tune too lean knocking.

if your car is JDM but if your have aftermarket ecu u set to ignition retard(to counter air/fuel mixture in the cylinder ignites "B4" the spark plug fires mean when u ignition retard cylinder ignites "WHEN" the spark plug fires) Ron 95 can suit to your car for sure. Ron95 can lower a bit the performance of your car.

But

if your car gtr is have OBDII maybe the ecu will smart enough to retard it(the knock sensor will let ecu know and the ecu will try to adjust to optimum ignition to prevent knocking ) to prevent knocking. Then no issues at all.

Is not the money issue now, only Ron95 is avaiable in Sarawak...

Speaking of which, most of the stations does not even carry the 97 fuel anymore ... All fucking cheapskate selling (and of course buying) 95 fuel only ... %$$%^**&$#


No choice, got to test with a tank of 95 until I find a convenience source which 97 still reliably available ...

even wif RON97 my cars detonate at 5800rpm onwards i dun wanna imagine with RON95. Time to get a conventional setting tuned for RON95 =-(

Considering we used to pay 1.80 for a liter of 97, and now 1.75 for 95, based on 50 liters, saving is only 2.50

That's true .... The rakyat always rugi when it comes down to fuel ... In fact, Shell V-power almost seemed discontinued, and trying to find 97 fuel is a piss-fight everywhere ... Now, have to drive around my common route to find out which station would still permanently sell 97 ... This is such an arse ...

Most of the smaller towns or stations only carries 95 fuel only coz they tailor on the bigger "regular car" consumer.

Re-tune? Darn, Haltech is next in line ...

Sarawakian & Sabahan is not so lucky as West Malaysian!! We only hv Ron95, higher RON only can add OCTANE BOOSTER!!! UNFAIR & Wat Is OneMalaysia?????????????

ron97 is still easily available. almost all stations south of subang jaya including shah alam , klang , port klang still carry ron97. infact the shell station b4 batu tiga toll heading south still carry ron97.

Just an update.

I just tuned my RB25DET on RON95. My engine is relatively stock boosting at 0.8bar only (Stock turbo maaa) and its running fine. In fact I did not lose power at all.

Of course if given a choice I’ll stick to RON97 (safer), but if you’re like me and HAVE to switch over, it’s ok to do so, a little tuning is advised.

I wanted to get tuned for Ron95...luckily, Ron97 is now available in Sarawak.
Ron95 really sucks for Rb26. Should never try it, unless u want to get it tuned...

You are 100% correct! Some more majority of the oil are from the EAST, but the WEST got to enjoyed all the good one...this is what you called 1 Malaysia? Now we have to forced to used RON95 with octane booster each time when we fill up the gas! Not tot mentioned high power engine, even my Toyota also can felt the difference in power when pump in RON95....
