lovely zth ICEing members,

i am confused about the amp and pre-amp setups...

i wanted to install a 4-channel amp into my car which i planned to bridge 2-channel to my sub and the other 2-channel to a pair of coaxials at the rear... with this setup, i was told tht i need a pre-amp in order to hav complete control of the amp. :frown:

 my situation now is if i want to install two amps, one 4-channel amp and one 2-channel amp, and my setup is:

4-channel amp= Bridged 2-channel for my sub and 2-channel for my coaxials.

2-channel amp= connect into the front component set.

my question is, with the new setup above, how much pre-amps do i need :questionm

or you guys hav any other suggestion other than using preamp... please share...

is ur 2 ch amp able to hit the sub?
if can , y not

4ch for front and rear comp
2ch for sub..

u will only need 1 preamp for every system...
but if u think it is not enuff, u can always add another..

thanks for the reply...

but now... more confused... if two amps use only one pre-amp is enuff oledi... then how many output does a normal pre-amp hav? and is it RCA output?

sorry ah... jus got into this ICEing mania... still new so a lot of questions...

How many pairs of pre-out does your headunit have? I'm thinking u probably don't even need a pre-amp.

It would help if u can list out your equipment.

Man... i hate it when the shops just say "pre-amp", heck, any $h!t in between the amp and headunit CAN be a pre-amp, manala tau tu orang pakai apa pre-amp.

what u need is an electronic crossover, not a pre-amp.......

crossover will do the signal seperation job

ev problem here...
ev 2 unit amp... 1 4 coaxial
1 4 subwoofer.
ev 1 pre amp
ev 2 cross over.
then ev a preamp that support to amp.
1 can go 2 subwoofer n 1 can go speaker.

the problem is... can i used a relay to give power +12 to my 2 amp?
can u all show me how the connection?

thanx

my head unit has one RCA out only...

my equipment:
Head unit: Addzest ADX8155
Amps: 1. 4-ch, 1500W (Cap Ayam)
2. 2-ch, 500W (Rockford Punch P5002)
Speakers: Front: 2-way Component
Back: 4-way coaxials
Sub: 1 unit. 350W Max i think...

dunno wut you mean by ev la....

i would suggest not using any pre-amps as it would only make the sound worse, unless its a real good one from Audio Control for example. buy a 2 or 3 way electronic crossover and connect your HU rca to it. from there u can have i or 2 pair rca to your 4 ch amp to power your front & rear speakers, and another pair rca to your sub amp.

point taken...

one more question... the component set's passive xover... can put close together wan or not? i mean like glue the both together... the wiring is like normal but put them together. the shop people told me tht cannot do like tht, later got inteference on the sound.... true ah?

if hav to seperate them, then where do you guys normally put it? my car is proton wira...

.. the installer's talking crap.. practically, the x-over should be near the speakers, saves $$ on longer cables.. if u mean put both the left and right speakers' x-over together, why u want to do that? each x-over can be located near their respective speakers..

also, dun have to waste $$ on the so called pre-amp.. anything that comes between the HU and amp is called pre amp.. external x-over is a good choice too, especially if the HU does not have build-in x-over functions.. EQ is another type of pre-amp.. all depends on what's your preference & budget..

i wan to put the xover together bcoz i wan to hide it behind my HU. Dun wan to let others see it...

you huys hav other suggestion on where to put the xover? somewhere hard to be seen by others outside the car...

pjam.. thanks for your info...

normally under dashboard in front of passenger footwell, under the carpeting etc. easy to check later if got any wiring or phase problems, or if want to change phase to experiment with sq. some ppl that have nice crossovers display them in the boot with their amps. i think the shop advised u not to put the crossover behind the HU, not that both passives cant be put next to each other.

I'm prefer what zen suggest...go out & find 1 good electronic crossover then run it in full active systems. for rear speaker can connect direct to HU...but if you SQ freak laaa... :dancing2: example good elextronic crossover is Macrom 48.13, Orion CS-1... but i'm prefer Macrom 48.13 cause i'm using now...

ok.. thanks ya all....

if i got questions i will post again here...

remember to check back and help me out...

ok guys now my turn... hehe

what should i do/how do i set up/what should i add to these stuffs:
1. deh-p5550mp HU (got RCA out for 'FRONT' and 'SUBS')
2. 1x 4Ch 360W amp
3. 1x 2Ch 800W amp
4. 2x 10" subs (400w) with enclosure

I was thinking:
1. Getting a 6.5" component set with passive crossover

My questions:
1. How is the connection? 4ch for components and 2Ch for subs?
2. For the two amps, what is the best way to power them up? Can they share the same fuse?
3. My HU has built in crossover (hi-pass low pass), where should i connect the passive x-overs, after the 4Ch amps isn't it?

1. U can bridge the 4 chn to be 2chn for extra power to the component set. However the thd will increase.
2. By having one fuse at the engine bay connected to a distribution block near the amps using appropriate size of power cable for combination of both amps and from the distribution block to the amps. Usually this method will provide 2 protection. One from the fuse box, one from the distribution block.
3. Yup
