Guys,

I will go to basic power amp set up on my rear woofer for Low bass.
Target is 6x9 woofers or 8 inch round woofers.
However, still unable to make a decision on power amp selection.
Which power amp should I go as I just go simple
with RCA output from HU and plug into power amp. No pre-amp or crossover in between.
Pls advise.. Thanks.

HU -> xover -> amp -> sub?

Does anyone run active on sub?

My set up is:

HU --> amp --> sub.

Btw, if I switch Class AB amp to Lowpass ( 50HZ to 250HZ )
Do the amp can only provide low bass sound at my rear woofer?
Pls advise.. Thanks.

By right it should :) Lowpass on and set it to the value you want.

Thanks for the advise.
Btw, hanging at rear, do 8 inch woofer can do the work well? or need to have a box ?
Pls advise.. Thanks

you mean the sub don't have box? I guess need to check whether the sub was designed for this kind of operation or not. not all can do infinite baffle. most need boxes to work properly.
Even if it is IB type, I think your trunk must be properly sealed too.

Plan to go hanging as I have top strut bar at my rear.
If I go to box, will freeze all the empty space.

Bro Boyzone,

Recommend you just go for a 4 channel amp.
Setting to low pass means u get only BASS.

8" woofers, IMO, gives kinda hollow bass...it gets better as u go up in sizes.
I like 12" woofers instead cos it sounds more full bodied.

U'd need:
2 x 8" woofers = x 10"
2 x 10" = 12" woofer
2 x 12" = 15" woofer

i find that 15" woofers are just over kill and a lil too overwhelming, unless u looking to blow out ur windows with em :)
12" woofers would do the trick. You can try and get a custom box to be installed on the side of your boot. I know Tehnichi / KK Lau can do this if you don't know any installers. they're able to produce adequate lows and even provide a more solid thump for bass. Thats the way i like em, which is y i got a kicker Comp VR 12" in a 1 sq foot sealed box.

Active crossovers usually come standard on amps these days so no need for you to get an additional one. After that, you can get urself custom passive x-overs for your fronts to add more dynamism.

Then u'll be REALLY ROCKIN!!!

Thanks Bro jwmwong for the advise.
Btw, 12 inch with 1 sq foot box sound interest to me..
have detail on the box dimension??

bro mnkh0027

...sorry just my way of describing it...damn difficult to provide a good description of how ou feel on the sound quality it makes.

Personally i just can't seem to enjoy wut an 8" woofer can do. Feels lacking in that sense.

Bump: Bro boyzone

The box is basically a standard one 1 sq ft box. Custom boxes costs more. In any case, like my Kicker, the woofer came with instructions on how the box should be made for both sealed / ported. So since space is an issue, not much choice but to go sealed

Oh like this... btw, in between class AB and Class D power amp, which one is the correct amp for me to go for low Hz deep bass only??
Pls advise.. Thanks

subs works like this, the bigger it is, the lower.. so it depends on how low you wanna go for you ride.. and also how big is your ride.. for a car, a pair of 12" MAX and not more.. 15 is too big for your ride unless you're going to a competition or a show..

for deep bass, u need a large box.
for large box u need a sub that suits large box
for this sub u will need a suitable amp

so, deep bass isnt affected by what type of amp u get.

right on zen...
but of course you must know how many watts is your sub first before getting the amps..
