Hi everyone...

I newbie here... I plan to overhaul my old toyota Ke-70 and was quote RM1.5K for the job including original parts by one of my regular workshop... but also thinking of replacing the engine with 1.6 levin engine ..but afraid of the procedure to get it legal on the road and the tear and wear of the potong engine....

Any workshop recommeded for the overhaul or engine replacement? What kind of toyota engine can fix to my ke70? and how much roughly for the transplant? ...

Thanks in advance for any reply/comment...

1.6 RWD Levin engine now oso very expensive lar kawan... over RM2k edi... Silvertop can get below RM2k, but FWD...

Overhaul is good coz you'll replace the worn parts with new parts... but you will get restless coz you're still stuck with the not-so-desirable 'stock' tag... satisfaction is paramount... your call but if for me, better change and overhaul the Levin engine...

Change the engine. SVT or BLT oso can be fitted in, so no prob.... Ask our William San Siifooo for advice la. Trial tuning 012-2139861

Good luck!!!!

Thanks SubVerSiv...
I read a few treat on levin engine..but still confuse with silvertop..etc..etc... newbie for this engine...and my car of course a RWD .... last time I quote from potong shop near bandar tun razak.. the have half cut levin engine cost at RM2.8K.. but i'm not sure which one RWD or FWD ...

How was the levin RWD maintenance cost.. and fuel consumption.... does it use timing belt or chain?.. sorry for this kind of question... I haven' done my research yet on this levin engine... is anyone have any good links for reference?

i tot 4a's wont have a problem when doing RWD or FWD, most FWD to RWD transplant do it clockwise, as in the timing belt cover would be in front, while the intake is on ur left and ex is on ur right.. when lookin into ur engine bay from the front of ur car. aiya.. confuse.. hehehe

Transplant Blacktop 20V into your KE 70, get T50 gearbox and the AE86 LSD rear axel.
Sure satisfied.

That's why I try to avoid engine transplant for my Ke70-- so much thing to consider...

EG9.. is black top 20V a RWD engine...??

As for the RWD engine transplant... what else need to change other than my list ...
1. engine
2. manual gearbox
3. rear axel
4. dashboard + steering +instrument
5. all 4 disk brake
6.

And how about RTD (JPJ) issues... any workshop around klang valley do extra sevice to get everything legal on road.. I means the mod need to get approval from puspakom and RTD .. all in one package...

1. engine (4AGE 20V Blacktop)
2. manual gearbox (T50)
3. rear axel (rear axel from AE86)
4. dashboard + steering +instrument (Get AE86 dashboard and power steering)
5. all 4 disk brake (Get AE86 one)
6. Relocation of distribution for 4AGE 20V or get a DLI convertor.
7. Replace all the timing belt, water pump, clutch, skim flywheel at the same time... better respond mar.
8. A good & Experience Mechanic or DIY. (Provided you have expertise and the time to do it and willing to bear the down time) :P

Just do it yourself and it cost only RM40 for the Puspakom inspection and FOC for the new engine number endorsement at JPJ. (Not too worry about this matter JPJ won't care so much with old school car)

As for AE86.. how about the suspension .. spring and absorber.... can get these from the half cut right?

All come with the half cut. Save a lot of money. :D
but if you need a really really good suspension. have to get aftermarket one.

As for the suspension part, you can ask Acoustic for the recommendation as he's using KE70 as well.
Everyone here know what will be his answer. :D

I have make up my mind.. now will go for replace the engine ... so anyone else would like to recommend your workshop to me for my project...

5K can do a lot of thing for KE70. of coz cannot go too extreme.

Look for AE86 half cut and drop ineverything including the absober, engine, gearbox, axel, and interior.

Should be enough. 5K +/-

I got 1 AE86 Half cut...nice condition. Buy that half cut and sell out those body part.

EG9.. okey.. nice talking to you just now... :D :D .. can PM me your free time next week for TT with you.. about AE86 bla.. bla...bla...

have another question.. how about the sparepart for ae86.. easy to find?? or still need to go to potong shop...

Spare pat of AE86?

Which part? Engine?

The engine is 4AGE 16V. and the part available new.

Absober = Available New

Gearbox = Chop shop, cheap cheap

rear axel = Chop shop (Won't spoilt easily)

Clutch set = Available new

other part also widely availablable.

Maintainance is almost same like your current KE70 as it's N/A engine as well.

not to mention you are roughly using the same fuel consumption to get twice the power. damn 4K engnine drink fuel like no tomorrow, kinda regret overhaul my engine early this year already.

because of too many influence about AE86.. last night I bought Initial D Collection Series..18VCD in total.. just finish the first 4 cd... what a nice movie and have racun me kau kau....so that is how AE86 has hidden strength... but it is the driver factor right!!

And just now on the way to office.. pass by a toyota look like an AE86 Trueno white in color... slowing down.. and he notice I try to catch up with him.. basically.. I try to get close to see what kind of car he has.. saw a TOYOTA emblem at the back bonnet... :D :D .. lost to him at one of the long stretch road...but catch up and overtake him at at.. traffic light :D :D ... waht can i say.. my old engine still have no problem to speed up except.. lack of accelaration and top speed... i admit that....

Wonder if I equipped with ae86 engine + etc etc.. now getting very excited to run the project.. :D :D
