Hi all,

Are you running any oil coolers for your ER34? If not what are the normal oil temp you are getting? I'm getting circa 110 degrees on prolonged high speed runs (circa 180km/h) and it's worrysome.

For aftermarket oil coolers, what options are available in the Klang Valley and the associated costs??

Many thanks.

V-Spec,
My oil temp was between 115-120 degree during high speed travelling. I had to slow down to keep the temp down. :Not_Impressed: Very annoying. My mechanic recommended me to add an oil cooler. After I installed a Grex Oil cooler and changed to Texas titanium oil, my oil temp maintains at 95-98 degree during high speed (160-2xxkm/h). Normal cruising is 90 degree, nite time cruising is less than 90 degree. Oil cooler is highly recommended for RB engines especially in tropical country.

Nissan recommend if your oil temp have reached 130C before
adviseable to change all the Main and rod bearing

Oil temp shot up is common for RB and SR at here..
bloody @ss need to slow down to reduce the temp
how to tapau M3 if like that ?

Dear Eugine,

May i know that how much u spent for Frex Oil Cooler set ???

Regards,
Benny

put oil cooler in ur car...then make aircond air flow to cool it down...sure temp around 30 Degreesz...

Benny, I don't have an oil cooler thats why are asking what are the options available out there.

Thanks for the info...i had always got that temp too...but didnt bother to do anything about it...as i thought it was normal and safe, guess i was wrong....do any of u get brown/exhuast stains on the rear bumper? esp after high speed runs? its driving me nuts, as i have to keep respraying the bumper. (car is white)

doink: how to make aircon flow to the oil cooler? i thought engine oil needs to be in optimal running temp like 90 degrees? if 30 degrees wouldnt it be bad for the engine?

Yup me as well having exhuast stains on the rear bumper. I think it is because we are running too rich. or too much hot air at intake??? ECU will add more fuel according to the temp of the air intake.

If u have reached the oil temp at 130c degree, better change the engine oil as soon as possible. Dont wait till the next service.

your car oso white issit?
its like the left half of the bumper is all brown...and it can't be washed off, only a repsray is da solution :(
could it be also due to the exhaust system? since i install this type of high-flow exhaust, (my cat removed), these stains started to appear....
when i had the original exhaust, i never had this problem, even with after highspeed runs...first i thought it was becos of the hot oil/engine temps, hence the hot exhaust fumes=brown stains problem....but are u still getting the stains after u install ur oil cooler?

i have never reached 130 degrees. its 110-115 i think
somewhere just above that middle line on the oil temp gauge...

yea ...also get the same problem.....half orf the rear bumper getting brown..d**m...

Hi Man & Rerider

I have the same problem with you guys and i managed to cleaned mine by polishing with Soft 99 wax. Cheap & effective all the time. Just that you have to take the habit to polish them every 2 weeks (left side always) to maintain your white bling bling!

You can get the polish from any place that sells car polish. Try Ace hardware, there is one which is formulated for white base colour. No need to repray, if you kept doing it then u probably have one thick layer by now.

Yeah forgotten to mentioned about the Trust oil cooler, it is the best investment for the safety of RB engines. I hardly every reach the middle gauge on every day driving even on hot weather. When i do hack it then it will just be half or slightly above it only.

Trust me this is a small investment to pay for a peace of mind whenever you like put the pedal to the metal.

Driftmeister, how much is the Trust Oil Cooler? :retarded:

I paid mine more than 2k quite sometime back, but i know u can get them around 1.8k ++ depending where u bargain it. My cost is inclusived of installation and the kit has everything up to the cable tie.

However i would recommend that you mount it on the driver side air vent if you intend to install a front mount intercooler in the near future. Mine is located in front of the radiator & behind the IC.

Cheers!

Wow that's really costly! Gulp.

Noted to install on driver side for future FMIC kit. :)

good info DM....gimme a try of ur polish sample liao...u come and check my car out...hehe
if it truely works...sure i buy a bottle...my stains are really brown and deep lor....

i couldnt agree with u more vpec - damn costly...they goes more $$$....less drinking sessions for me...but more happy times for da RB baby.....sigh wat to do...hehe

Hi Driftmeister,

This is Ben here. Thatnks for the earlier infos

For the oil coolers, does it also relocate the oil filter ? The connection of this cooler would be from the outlet for the oil filter right ?

Apart from trust, what are other available brands out there ? 1.8k is a little steep

So much to learn..

Innocente,

The oil filter will be at the same place, just that they have an adapter for the line out to the cooler. No need to mod anything, just plug & play. U will be very happy with the oil temp after all sort of thrashing.

Best to buy the trust bcos the braided line & connector are of highest quality (Earl's). The last thing you need is an oil leak somewhere mate.

Best investment if you care for your baby..Cheers!
