No Intercooler on a VR4 engine

Can u guys tell what probably might happend if not using intercooler on a VR4 engine???Connection from turbo to manifold straight away.....but got aftermarket BOV....

Are these might happend????

-Loss/Drop on power.
-Chances of Reduced/Damaging internal parts.

The temperature gauge needle climb up as fast as rpm meter :lol:

If u running low boost or reduce the boost, without IC should be ok as long as in short distance driving and at nite time.

vr4 turbo is small, it will genarate alot of heat above 0.8bar. u will see cracked rod or piston later ...

some of drag racer dun run intercooler but they need at lest 120RON jet fuel, and they also run water injection. beside that some of them do a cooling coil on their fuel hose and put inside ice for cold temp fuel.

i am running without intercooler rite now...hihihihihi...

as for temperature....at noon below half iswara temp meter......
at nite oso same....little jam same oso no diffrence....but jam kau kau belum test lagi...infact raining plus jam oso not yet tested....

as for engine temp i think is ok...but afraid of pinging and detonation onli....

power????hehehhei manage to get 136 at DMT dyno onli..... :(

Hey, draggerz can run without intercooler coz they run only abt 14 secs. & below 1 shot. so, takde hal I think.

But my friend's brother last time running Mirage 4G61t without intercooler say that the engine overheats after a while.

no intercooler dun bring up your engine temp. it bring up your intake charge temp.
be very very careful. u r big ball man! :lol:
detonation with crower con rod also can't help you. harder con rod only help to hold higher boost or help little from con-rod bend when detonation.
bigger intercooler will increase power, just increase abit lag. since ur turbo is not big why you bother about lag? go for biger intercooler to increase top end power and safe ur engine.

i've drive my car to KLIA through the Usj highway and i noticed that my temp was rising when i maintain about 3500-3800 Rpm crusing....i can't go above 3.5k...the most was only 3 then only temp will maintain....if maintain around 3.5 above temp will rise slowly..... :lol:

Detonation????Does it helps if i richen the engine a bit and oso go low on boost..and does advandce or retard the timing helps to lower the chances in detonation..and what are the signs of detonation....i'm not planing on big i/c's....only standard GSR's wif Eterna auto i/c welded together....but that only come around after raya....

Rite now cannot kaw-kaw yet....summore no i/c afraid engine go kaboom

wah, I pity your engine...kena abused until like that.. the engine temp shouldn't rise at all even during hot days. Better not rev so much if your temp increases like that. By right, it should maintain a constant temperature. It is highly likely that prolonged usage would result it detonation. Get that intercooler asap.

no problems, because didnt tarik.

Still ok..i'm running fine...just my engine running rich like hell....cannot stand smell...i can lar..my mum and gf cannot...alwiz complaint...summore no aircond....saga aircond pipe must weld back to VR4 compressor joint....but if a lot of draging...i.e 3-4 rounds of 1st to 3rd gear...slightly above have the temp rise up..... :lol: :D

*Sudah satu bulan wooo...now second month no Intercooler....ahhhhhhhhhhh
