Hello all,

Here my setup,

HU - Pioneer

6 1/2 component system (caliber) - front

6 midbass spk (alpine) - back

10' subwoofer (mohawk blue)

2 channel amp (normal) - for subwoofer only.

My question is, the sound not very sharp from component system and subwoofer too boom...boom... even I minimize the loudness for sub (hope you all understood what I means). Pls advices me about the setting or should I install something???

i assume you power your comps from your HU. Of course you will hear booooommm only because your are powering like 20w for the component and like 200w (i think) for the subs.

OIC, mean that i should install amp for my comp? How bout pre-amp? Is it make any different?

Try minimizing the gains on your sub amp and reversing the phase so that you'll get a softer bass.

Are you running a ported (with a hole) subwoofer box or a sealed one? How big is the enclosure?

Like appleyard says, you may want to consider adding an amplifier for your fronts.

Try to get another amp for your front speaker.btw, what is your amp watts??
I think i must be big cause as you told, the boom boom sound is louder even u tune it down...how many woofer u have??

Suggestion with that budget

get

HU : Kenwood KDC-X7529
Speaker : Focal 165 K2 Power
Subwoofer : Image dynamics ID 12 MAX
Amp : Tube Driver 2 Channel (speaker)
Any good monoblock amp for sub

hI there,

Which pioneer HU you're using rite now?
Pioneer Hu allow you to adjust the woofer level and build in cross over.
have you set to lo and v.level to low at the amp since u are using the amp just to power
the sub.

my setup last time is like that. I had 2 x 12" with 1000w on them and had 2 coaxials and stock rear all from the HU. I always complain that most songs i can even hear the songs cause its all bass.

Pre-amp is good, if you get a good installer, if not get ready for the airplane sound. Anyway what is your HU model? If the Hu got 2 or 3 pre-out, then you no need to pre-amp already. Anyway pre-amp got more knobs for you to play around, but for me, the EQ from my HU is enough already.

Yours is DEH5750, same as mine, I also never use pre-amp, since you are not that good on adjusting sound, is better that you save the pre-amp money for other thing. The airplane sound is cause by the earthing of the amp or pre-amp no good, so you will have some sound when you turn on your volume loud and pree pause on your song. Anyway I stay in Seremban, the place where not much installer can eliminate the air plane sound. Since the player have 3 pre-out you can make full use on it, you can get more info from the manual, it will teach you how to use the pre-out. The player got 5 preseted EQ and 1 custom EQ, you can try these EQs first. Hope this can help you.

OIC, I already try the EQ but does not make much diff I thing, only the bass sound much louder. Just now i only used custom, try to minimise the boom...boom... sound. May i know your setting for the HU and pre-out?

You only use 1 amp right, for the woofer. Because of this sure the woofer sound will overtake your mid sound. You try to press audio function button (on the remote is A) until HPF. There you will see something like 50Hz +A, 80Hz +A, 125Hz +A, where the +A is the number (range from -5 to +5). You try to settings : 50Hz 0, it will bring down your woofer bass. The setting for my HU I have to check back first, as the initial settings I only done once. Hope this can help you to minimise your boom boom sound, futher info on adjusting you have to give me some time the manual i have to get it first. Anyway if you have some extra money, buy another amp for your mid speaker, pre-amp is not that important for you, unless you going for high-end.

Ok bro, I tried with your advices. Hopefully to get to know your setting. Thanks.

Mine? how to say, I have 1 LA B300.2 for my pair of 10' woofer and Caliber for my Rockford Fosgate 6.5' and JVC 4.5'. Since DEH5750 got 3 pre-out, so I make full use of them. Anyway if you can open your HU out, you can see the pre-out has lable on it, just follow the lable. Normally you will use the rear and sub, unless you are using 4 channel amp, then you will have chance to use all the 3 pre-out. Anyway jsut want to ask when you buy the player, did the shop give you the box, manual and the keys to open your player?

Yes, I have all the items in a box. For my pre-out, i only use 1 for amp ( i think cause the shop installed for me).

Ok, you can try 50Hz -4, HPF 50Hz or 80Hz, bass on 0 to 2, if you know how to DIY, then try to adjust the gain on your amp.
