what a comment on the MR2. A poor man's Ferari. i Don't really agree with that statement. The MR2 on the september cover for Extreams kars Mag is fantasically done and it does not live up to that statement. i personally feel that the MR2 is trully a class on its own. Good job to the owner of the MR2 (who ever u are out there). Every penny spend its for sure have put the toyota mr2 in a very outstanding image.

If someone gives me a ferrari.... he will be seeing me selling the car tomorrow morning to get an MR2

personally, i prefer modding than given something that "no mods needed"

Modification is life.... without modification... we will be dancing cha cha cha till today.... :dancing2:

Great, Japs are Japs and Euro's are Euro's .. no comparison between both standards. I totally disagree with the article also.

Even nothing beats Jap's .. even a super McLaren "asapped" .. so dont worry, its just a words. Physical proves has done it.

MK's MR2 V6... now that's a legend... only in MY...

MK's V6 MR2 is not legendary, its just some guy that went bonkers and fetish for anything V6. hahaha.

No it is true, MR2 is poor mans ferarri. The other one is a Honda NSX. But that cost much much more than a MR2. Also not forgetting the moniker pocker ferarri, that is the MR2.

Hoi! Now I'm going bonkers at V8 la..... :D

Anyway the term was coined eons ago in reference to the SW20 similar looks to the then Ferrari 348.

Another term was "If it were any slower, it'd be a Ferrari".

im not agree so....cause now day most of the buyer buy cash.... no loan at all, cause banker not offer ma...heheh......

cash cash man...so can be say most of mr2 owner is not poor man ,is rich man..hahaha...is u guys agree?

i think the person who wrote that article did not bother

to do some research b4 putting that statement.

that shows how shallow in terms of car knowledge in
that CAR mags.

Anytime you are able to pick up chicks with that SW20. I would classified it as a crowd puller.

Poor mans ferari?. i don't agree.. but baby fararri i agreee.

So MR2= Poor Man's ferrari and Poor Man's NSX ;) ?

if someone gave me a ferrari

... I would also sell off straight away. It is not possible for me to handle the road tax, insurance and repairs for that car.

I will take photo and pose kao-kao first... ask the whole world including grandmother and grandmother's neighbours to come and see... after that I sell.

on an unrelated fact... during the recent Super GT during the qualifiers... one of the Celicas qualified faster than a Ferrari. Now don't get me wrong... I'm not saying one is better than the other... stupid comparison... but just letting you all know a fact... that it happened.

sport/car writers need to coin a comparison, unfortunately the term had alway been there since 90s (not coined by local writers).

Writers too wrote about MRS as being a fugly/poor mans porsche. so? what does it mean?
Some of the spyder US owners could own ferraris too but they instead of pooling for an exotic sports car; they instead choose a spyder, a SUV, a motorbike (yamaha fzr250/Honda ST1100/Ducati999 to name a few), truck etc.

sure a ferrari/porsche is something we die for but different league la.

Hypo-tactically speaking; cost of ownership for daily drive = dont hurt much as compared to having your ferrari sit in garage 8 months. actual driving a ferrari = 3-5 weeks in a year.

so better to have a poor man's ferrari which u can drive everyday than

the original Ferrari where we cannot afford a full petrol tank! or road tax..
:)

i dont really regard it as a demeaning term,
they can call whatever but we are still happy driving it.

I was wondering if anyone here test drived an NSX before? Particularly MR2 owners. I wonder how different they are. On exception of the common 2 door and MR layout and the price. I only have recent reviews from magazines on how good the NSX is. And none on the MR2 or MRS but only in moded form. I don't even wanna talk about how good Keiichi says about the NSX because he is driving them in GT series. But he drifted MR2 in some video. So how does the NSX and MR2/S stack up against each other?

NSX = poor man's ferarri
MR2 = beggers ferarri

Midship - like that i don't mind being poor or a beggar. hahaha.

MK84 - Ohhhhhhh... looking hard at V8 already lar. 1UZ larrr..... hahaha. American pushrod engines ahhh? What kind of batmobile are u gonna stuff that in? Man... sounds like u really gone over-bonkers liao!

Here is one fella gone bonkers for in L28 in line 6 nissan, with TE47 body. A nice chap from middle east who races this car often.
